Well the media still projects us as the most paid guys for working less hours. I almost got sick when I read this article on MSN career builder. Hope you guys find this interesting. If only they knew we work more than what is projected and for less the public would have a totally different opinion about our job. "Good luck telling your date you are under paid"

My in-laws believed that for a while. Until i moved in with them, for a year now because i cant afford an apartment along with student loans and such. They are expecting me to move out soon but i keep dangling that "Delta might furlough carrot" in front of them and they feel bad for me....

AVG 70K salary and AVG 300hrs/month at work. AVG airline pilot makes $19.50/hour and that's a top earner?...sad just sad.

When is Alpo gonna get the word out?

They clearly must be using numbers from 1976....

None of the folks i know work 23 hours a week, and earn 120,000.....

Guess we just wern't counted in this survey....! :eek:

They dont dare show actual wages or no one would fly.

I noticed a link at the bottom right of the page for feedback on the article. I already wrote them about the truth to the airline world and would suggest that everyone else do the same. The unions won't help us get the word out so we had might as well do it ourselves.

Yeah, I almost puked when I read it too. Hence the above thread!

I just left them feedback also......Disgusting. Articles like that just have the public thinking we're overpaid when it's really the opposite. Flying million dollar aircraft with 50+ peoples lives in our hands to make poverty wages is the real glamor of this industry.:eek:

How would you put it?

They sort of do educate folks about the realistic job outlooks.

I knew there was a reason why I want to be a pilot!!! Now I can back it up. Who wouldn't love to work 23 hrs a week and make 120K!!!!
Now I can convince my parents to give me 120K so I can go to ATP and get all my ratings fast and while I am at it get a 737 and a 747 rating!! Then I can fly and make 120K and pay it off within 1 year.
I wonder how much I will make w/ overtime??!
