Pay US or Pay up
 

I've heard this term floating around the cockpit lately and began to think about it.
DL is making us pay another $50 to use the only benefit i have.
Flying into a DL hub the other day mainline was right up on us and tower had asked us max froward as practicable. I landed and got off at the first high speed allowing DL to land. As im making the turn off I think to my self I could have just cost DL more then my entire crew base pays to use travelnet.
The DCI shuffle has worn hard on me and I just don't give a **** anymore.
I have absolutely no incentive other then the environment to taxi with one engine, shut down the apu in flight or on the 4 hour sit, use reduced thrust TO ect.. why should I. We as pilots have a huge opportunity to show the MAN we can save them more money then they can imagine if they pay us well and keep us happy. end of rant

If Mesa ever gets PPAS you'll have something else to gripe about. Comair's been using it for three years and Delta hasn't given us so much as a pat on the back for the $millions they've saved in fuel.

The typical problem is getting everyone on board. While we all seem to want the same things (better pay, better work rules, better benefits and compensation) many individuals who'll talk to the talk, aren't willing to walk the walk. If the unity of all the pilots was truly a union, we wouldn't worry about such things, someone mention "we'll all drop our pens at noon." and suddenly, everyone does. If one guy doesn't no biggie....but if no one has the balls to be the first to drop the pen, no one else follows suit.

well my personal goal this year has become to use more fuel then I could buy with my Pay.
Also outstation maintenance is extremely expensive i.e 2 loose screws in BHM cost $450 to tighten

Shouldn't be too hard. I did the math on one flight a couple months ago and each passenger paid $79 for Jet-A and $4 for my piloting skills.

Forget ALPA, we should all start a DCI carrier union where we all can stand together! Maybe this could be done within ALPA... probably not. I'm beginning to realize anytime you think ALPA can do anything it takes a little research to realize they can't... and they are really not worth more than about two shoits. Unless you need something very specific from them... they will toss you away just as fast as the companies we work for.

Ask the United pilots how an organized effort for WOE goes.

With delta wanting to cut contract flying it may not be the smartest idea to be wasting money because your mad about paying an extra 50 a year to fly for otherwise free.

Also if you ever wanna leave your RJ job and fly some main line iron you want those bigs to be hiring.... if they are paying extra money for the fuel that the contracts could be saving they wont be as healthy financially and therefore wont be in a positon to hire as much.

Unfortunate but true. Pretty much any attempt for labor to stand up is strangled by the RLA or is classified as an illegal job action. Trans States Airlines will not get anymore than the absolute bare minimum (if they are lucky) from me and a lot of other people I know unless things improve.

thats not the point. If they want to make or save $50 from me they should offer me a Fillet Mignon next time I fly non rev, not charge me $50 to use travelnet.
