Today in Newark :)

Today was a great day, we sat waiting for take off from 29 for about an hour this morning and we saw some pretty intense moments, of which one was a UPS MD-11 attempting to land on 22L, of course he couldn't quite make it and away he want for another try, a Few CAL guys going around due to other a/c not being able to get off the runway in time, and last but not least, getting the ABSOLUTE HELL beatin out of us from 6,000ft and below, Autopilot kicked off just past Dylan for us and I had the pleasure of wresting the 'ol beast for the remainder of the 25 minute beating, nothing like hand-flying in MOD-SEVERE turbulence..............I mean come on guys, it really is fun:D

In all sincerity its days like today where you kick back with a beer and a smile and thank the lord you had enough skill/luck to not bend the airplane, ohhhhhh what a day

PS they canceled my overnight as well

Rub it in that you have a job...jerk.

j/k, that makes me miss flying. Clear blue and a million gets old! But I have friends that call me while they are on 4-5 hr layovers somewhere or being extended and it reminds me of the bad crap too.

Cheers to that man! It has been one of those days! LGA was a mess as well! A handshake and a thank you from a pax was worth the battle!

We had a day like that in EWR a couple of months ago. Fortunately it was the captains leg. lol.

We sat there waiting to go back to IAD for like 3 hours and ended up flying it back at 8,000ft tower enroute. I despise going into EWR. Ugh I hate it.

Those challenging days are fun though, and they make us better pilots. :)

Yep, was a good day on the east coast. Gotta love the ILS 1R circle to 30 at IAD, too...

Everyone keeps talking about that, and I'm based there and haven't even had a chance to do it yet!!!

last time i did it the winds were 330 @ high thirties gusting forties... its a pretty ridiculous approach. fun to watch how wide the planes in front of you swing off the ils when they kick off autopilot. it will definitely get the heart rate up.

great runway layout in dulles... anytime the wind blows more than 4 kts its always from the northwest but yet they have 3 crosswind parallels.

You got that right. Had that approach one afternoon and after clearing the rwy, I looked around and saw a 73 in what looked like at least a 60 degree bank turning short final.

the porta potty that managed to blow all the way over to the lineup for 29 and hit and dented a 737 wing was priceless. The 73 had to gate return

Man, how would you like to call THAT one in to ground... "Uh... we're going to need to go back to the gate... we were just hit by a toilet"...

Ha, must have been right behind you, saw the MD11 on the go too. And the plane on the runway "Way to go Jazz!".
