There's nothing wrong with posting the facts as they become available. It's the rampant speculation and arm chair quarterbacking that need to be avoided.

Well..... When I was based up in CRW, I flew out of IAD alot in fact one of my 4 Day trips was with Capt Joe Z. (Jumpseater). All I can say was he was a great guy. Kinda like a Big Brother helping me out cause I was one month out of IOE and still was learning everything about the SAAB. He gave me good pointers and was a great guy to fly with. In fact, after the day was over in the middle of our 4 day, we had a long sit before our show time the next day. He offered to go have some drinks, which he paid for, and we just hung out and b s about alot how he graduated from college and started at Colgan and how he wanted to go on to the Majors and just had a great time. After our trip we became friends, saying hi to each other in the crew room and thats about it. I am still in aww. You just don't realize how lucky we are with life until something horrible happens close to you. He was a great guy! RIP and everyone else involved in this sad event that has happened. I am praying for all the family and friends of the victims. RIP:(

More than likely Ice, and flap issues, but they also put props to 100 there as well, don't they? reference ASA's 1991 BQK crash. It could serve some merit here too.

God bless the souls of the people who perished in this horrible accident. Them and their families will be in my prayers. :(

All of your IAH friends will miss you. Thank you for your professionalism, good humor, and everything you gave to everyone you encountered. You were a pleasure to fly with and be around.

Joe,
I don't even know what to say. You opened your home to me and countless other pilots as they were "sentenced" to be based in JHW. We'll miss you.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends of anyone lost in this accident.

I've already offered to take my crew out tomorrow after work and buy a round a drinks to honor those we lost :)

As SAABaroowski so very well put ... we lost some DAMN FINE PILOTS last night.

I flew with Marvin a number of times when he was an FO on the Saab at IAH. You're right, you'd have liked him...a lot. He was a great guy to fly with. Professional, calm, very competent, cautious, and thorough. We flew a three day trip together in October 2006. We had an aborted takeoff in ABI. He handled his responsibilities perfectly, professionally, and proactively, just like a routine simulator evolution. He always displayed great care for his crew and for his passengers. He made my life easy as my FO. I'd have flown with him anytime, anywhere. To his family - if there was something he could have done, I assure you, Marvin tried to do it.

When I fly west for the final time, he's one of the first I'll look for and find. I did not know the rest of the crew. My deepest thoughts and wishes to their family and friends. They could not have made their final flight with anyone finer.

I know I'm flooding this thread here, but I wanted to say that you took the words out of my mouth about Marvin. I was paired with him for a month a little while before he transitioned to the Q. There are still little "renslow-isms" that I've incorporated into my routines after flying with him.

Joe Z was also a captain to be admired. Complacency was a foreign word to him. Every leg was thorough, correct, and professional. He prided himself on knowing the aircraft and the rules, and he did. We always joked that every sentence he said started with "well, actually..." but it always ended with the truth. Joe, we'll miss your corrections...
