Amerian Eagle DFW

Does anyone know if pilots have been getting furloughed recently with American Eagle at DFW?

be76flyer 02-25-2009 10:37 PM

None yet!!!

no, extended LOA's up to 5 years were offered to keep from having to furlough. About 20 pilots per month are leaving on their own

Wow that is alot. Do you know if there changing careers or looking for better jobs with security (not sure if that concept exists anymore in this day and age).

So what is the current pilot count? APC shows as 2800. Is that accurate?

20-30 pilots a month were leaving early last year through the summer. Since Fall maybe 5-10 pilots leaving a month if that. No furloughs yet or announced.

I've heard American Eagle might actually be hiring again within the next 3 months.

I just looked back at the last few flow plans that are published about every two weeks...in total over the last four flow plans, 11 people either resigned, released or retired...four flow plans would be about two months worth, so doing the math = 6/month either voluntary or booted.

AMR just reported another 13% drop in load factors... I wouldn't expect hiring, I'd expect more capacity reduction...

That's all Arpey and his goons know. Everything Crandall ever did, UNDONE.

Really, the word I've been hearing is they are still blocking overtime, and are soon to start negotiating another round of long term leaves...

Is OT still blocked? if it is, that's a pretty good indication of overstaffing.
AA reported another 13+% drop in load factor, so expect capacity reductions. If AA reduces, Eagle will have to as well to remain under their set percentage of flying.

I don't have a crystal ball, but people have confirmed that overtime is being blocked, so I tend to think that hiring will not resume anytime soon. Plus word from the Dark Fortress is that Eagle sent a bunch of instructors back to line flying. So, based on all that, when I do the math I don't see any hiring anytime soon.

Agreed. The folks at the crystal palace are something beyond belief.
