Yes. I don't know of any company that has an 80 hour guarantee, but regionals are 70-75.

Depends. Are you on reserve? Could be as little as 0, to a max of 100. Typically lines are built around 75-95 hours.

So it is! But look at reserve guarantee, 66 hours. Ouch! I'm guessing with 90 total pilots you'd be on reserve a LONG time.

Here's the deal. You get that 80 hours of pay as long as you are available to work per your contract. Anything over and above 80 will be paid as well, dependant on the contract. For example, at RAH you get a 75 hour guarantee. Let's say you're on reserve, so you only fly about 60 hours a month. You can actually make more than 75 hours. Work on a day off? 4 hours of OT. Two days of OT, and you will be paid for no less than 83 hours. We have no cap, so if you really want to strap an airplane to your butt, you can make over 100 hours of pay. The way the game works here is you want to get paid as much as you can while working the least. If you can get 115 hours of pay and fly 82, you're working it.

Other airlines may have different work rules. Some have premium rates for OT or flying over guarantee. That's why alot of people say merely looking at hourly rates can be decieving. If at airline X, you make $10/hr more than airline Y, ask yourself why? You may have to sell your soul to the devil for that $10/hr. Some airlines, with high guarantees (80 + hrs) make it almost impossible to make OT. You can only fly 1000 hours a year. That averages 83.5 hours a month. A high guarantee only makes sense for rsv pilots who won't get enough credit to break guarantee. Also, the nature of flying also has a lot to do with it. It's well worth researching what the W2 is and what you have to do to achieve it.

Good luck. It's a hard road, but if you REALLY want to do it, you can.

At Horizon we get 93 hrs guarantee for each 35 day bid period. This equates to 80 hrs. / month.

Also the salary survey on this site is way off for our Dash pay (all variants). Our DHC-8-400 pay tops out at about $110/hr for captains.

80 hours is your guarantee! 80 x your pay rate = your monthly salary.
you will fly close to that or the company doesn't make much money!

Colgan's is 75hours - I have flown an average of about 72/month since I started in '04 - (800SIC/1300PIC) Several months you will go over and you get paid more. This month I;ll get about 80 hours of pay credit.
