VNAV on the garmin 530 is glorious. If you have the arrival programmed all you have to do is select a waypoint, how far out, and a target descent rate. It will kindly remind you when you are approaching descent profile, then shows a target descent rate to maintain. Also nice having the avidyne ex500 with terminal charts so I don't have to mess with da paper anymore.
