Yeah, another thread that will be 10 pages of Mesa bashing....
Here is my thoughts on the Aloha name:
These people who have this "emotional attachment" need to get over themselves. It is just a friggin name! This personfication of the Aloha name is beyond ridiculous. The guy who sold it did it legally so, and this judge is scraping at ends to stop the sale because he has an emotional attachment to it. Business is business, people. To make anything more of it is stupid.
By the way, is it me, or have fares never been cheaper in intra-Hawaii?

Have the fares never been cheaper? You see something cheaper than what Go!'s charged?
You didn't hear? Delta won the appeal and Mesa will cease all ERJ flying effective 2/1. I've heard that they've hired bankruptcy lawyers and are looking at Chap 7....

And:
Yes they have... when MidPac ran YS-11s for 5 bucks one way in the 80s (translates to about 10 bucks today). Those low fares have never been profitable and those sorts of fare wars have always ended with one company or another going Bankrupt.

Being born and raised in Hawaii, I understand the attachment that folks have with the "Aloha" Airlines name. Being a "home grown" and, locally operated airline means alot to us locals. This airline's history spans 4 decades of safe, reliable service to the islands as well as mainland (US) operations. This is no small feat, and one which many here take tremendous personal pride in.
Folks here understand business, we also understand that the airline industry is very competitive place to work. But we also know that the circumstances that the Airline failed was due to unethical (illegal) business practices which the court system ruled against Mesa. Mesa, operating under the "Aloha" name would be an abomination to folks here. You'd better believe that every effort will be made to prevent Mesa from acquiring the "Aloha" brand. In any event, I predict that "Go-Aloha" won't succeed here in the long run and the name of "Aloha" will return to us sooner than you think.
