SkyWest VLA

It's refreshing to see management put their money where their mouth is...I was sure they'd fight SAPA on the health and flight benefits until the day they furloughed. Let's hope enough of us want to do other things for awhile :D And I'm cautiously optimistic this might put the "F-bomb" back in the closet where it belongs...

What do y'all think? How are voluntary leave programs working out elsewhere (ie Eagle)?

Seems to have been working out fairly well here at XJT though we still ended up having to furlough. But those that wanted the time off got it while sparing some folks at the bottom who didn't.

Some of the highlights:
Leave lengths of 1 to 12 months
Longer call back provisions (30 days, 90 days or none depending on leave length)
Company paid portion of medical and dental insurance
Domicile protection
Full travel benefits (as allowed by our travel agreements)
Seniority and longevity continue to accrue

Well I for one am working on a way for that VLA myself...! Two years of Military Leave are coming up and there is so much more that I want to do. Heck if I didn't need work to cover my student loans, I'd probably take the chance to go off the grid LoL

Offered them at ASA for about 4 months before furloughing. Quite a few people took them too. Still didn't prevent a furlough. Who knows what lies ahead, but this was the first step to furlough at ASA.

Mesa is offering a similar one now, except only 30 day at a time increments (can be renewed every 30 days.) But seniority, longevity still accrue and medical insurance is paid with travel benefits.

This is in addition to the 12 month voluntary furlough that they offered (no medical except COBRA and travel benefits expired after 60 days.)

Looks pretty decent to me. AWAC offered much less but I think they knew pilots would be out for a longer period of time with no medical and no travel benefits.

The Medical and differnt length of leave is a nice pro that SKYW is offering. For guys who can afford the month or more off it is a great deal. Spring and summer around the corner :)

Hope it works out for you guys!

Careful about the travel benes side of that thing. I know a guy who got screwed in that dept by Skywest a while back.
