Jazz (Air Canada) Jumpseat from US
 

I have not 'Jump seated' on Jazz before but Jazz is the best option for me this week to fly off to Canada.

Can we even do this?
If so, how do I list myself?

Yes, I do unerstand that I can't sit in the Flight Deck on Internationl routes...just wondering if I can use the 'Jump Seat' privilige and sit in main cabin from US o Toronto/YUL, and how do I list myself?

Your company must have an agreement with them for you to ride on them

Shot in the dark here, but since you're a 9hundo guy.... Are you with XJ? If so, we have travel agreements with AC/AC Jazz. Jumpseat I'm not 100% on, but a quick call to JR's office in MSP or MM's office in DTW should fill in the blank. And if you're not XJ....ingnore all of the above, and good luck, we're all counting on you.

Here's some info that will help you with your trip.

To jumpseat on Jazz call 1 800 413 1113 select option 7 to list. The system with Jazz and Air Canada is a little bit of a pain as only the pilots carry the jump seat forms. Saying that flag down one of the pilots if you see them at the gate. Make sure to mention to the handling agent "US side" that the pilots have the coupons.

Good bunch of guys and are always willing to help out a jumpseater.

Your jumpseat guide given out by your airline's jumpseat committee should have a table that includes whether international j/s is allowed by a particular carrier for pilots from your airline...if not, you would have to do the ZED crap...even if you do the j/s thing successfully, they'll prob still nail you with tax before you make it onto the flight, thus saving little if any money versus ZED.

No taxes or fees jumpseating on AC out of the US. The pilots carry the forms and they are more complicated than the NW ones... they ask for company address, pilot license #, etc etc. But the AC guys are just as friendly as normal.

Jumpseating on Jazz is 50/50 at best. The pilots are good people, but getting past the agent is always the hard part. And when you do get past the agent, the pilots do not always carry the jumpseat coupons. A few times, when the pilots did have a coupon, the agents didn't know how to list me on the manifest and simply ran out of time. Getting out of the US is still easier than out/within Canada, where my luck has been zero so far. I've tried several times in the past decade with no success. Good luck.

What he said. I would carry a extra ZED fair with you!! I have "jumped" on Jazz 8 times and had to use my Zed twice. Getting the gate agent to know what you want is 90% of the problem. Good luck

I've jumpseated on AC a bunch of times and except for one where the flight was oversold have had no problems...never paid a departure tax either.

Yeah, I've done it a couple times... Just leave yourself a lot of extra time and you should be ok. If you can get a hold of some of the jumpseat forms ahead of time, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble... (And it's MUCH worse getting out of Canada than going in...) (The gate agents up there have no idea what "jumpseat" means...) Even the Xjet agent in YOW I used the other day looked at me like I had three heads....

Persistence pays off though... And luck helps...
