Any other reserve rats out there?
Anyone sitting reserve? I have only flown once in the past month. I almost feel bad taking my "Guarantee". What are you doing to keep occupied? Im gettting tired of movies. It would be one thing if I was at home, but living in a crash pad and commuting home just sucks.

If you feel that bad about taking it give it to me. I never feel bad about getting money that is earned. Your giving up your time at home to sit in a crash pad most likely on the other side of the country or at least a good distance away just for the chance they may need you. It may not be hard work but someone has to do it.

Do not feel bad for getting your guarantee, you earned it. You are being paid to be available to the company at prescribed times. And if you fly for a union carrier, it will be in your contract. Does the company feel bad when it violates your contract?? I think not... I will gladly take your job if you don't want it.

I am tossing bags for Delta and looking for a 2nd job thinking about a career change......and a call back that might not happen for a good while....I would be more then happy to take your job if you don't want it anymore.

I'm going back to reserve soon, what with all the furloughs... Movies are good... Bring a laptop and get hooked on one of those "MMORPG" games... Or, better yet, get a gym membership nearby and spend as much time as you can working out... Drink heavily...

I'm on reserve, too. I haven't flown in 15 days. I'm not complaining. I live in base, so it makes a world of a difference.
To kill time, I've been hitting the gym, and I'm really happy I can go often w/ being on reserve. That's something you can't really do when you're a regular line-flyer.

I was only joking about feeling guilty about taking it. Believe me I earned it sitting up here.
Got the drinking thing down. I am well practiced. there's a gym at the house so doing that too...
Yeah I am back from furlough too. Was a CA, then a FO then FU. Now back as a FO but sitting reserve.
Living the dream. Mine is a nightmare though. Somebody wake me

I'm the most junior FO in my status. I sit ready reserve every month. I only live a few miles from the airport so I quickly got used to punching in at 2PM and heading home at 10PM. Only flew 20 hours last month.
I bring my Macbook Pro, headphones, a few DVDs and head to an empty section of the airport to relax for up to 8 hours. With the wifi connection I watch movies from Netflix. I bring my lunch so I don't spend much on airport food. It sucks, but at least I have a job. I have been doing ready reserve every month for the last 3 months....no end in sight.
