I agree and Pro Stan. Totally out of line.

Very well stated! For the JS, it goes NWA pilots, Delta, then first come first served for XJ, 9E, & CP. After that, first come first served for walkups.

Are you sure? I thought XJ/CP had priority over 9E and others since we were wholly owned's. (not that I am very up to date since I no longer commute)

Pinnacle, Compass, and Mesaba all travel as a class 6.

Definitely Professional Standards. You don't need some tool to ruin a privilege that should not be taken for granted or by someone who makes up their own rules.

Thanks for all the input!

Indeed I listed almost a week before the flight and showed up ‘first’. As much as I’d have liked to ask for the captain’s permission myself, it’s not always possible. It’s also awkward to ask the gate agent if I can go inside the plane to see the captain as I have been rudely turned down more than once as most Gate Agent always like to ‘assert’ themselves.

But this gate agent dude in SFO is quite polite and got my form signed by the captain. I did later on presented my credentials to the captain and he was more than happy to shake hands (I always make a point to introduce myself to F/O unlike so many pilots who enter the cockpit and completely ignore F/Os … like the tall Colgan captain out of IAH (for MSP) yesterday who completely ignored me and talked to the captain only – name withheld to protect the guilty).

During the flight, SFO-MSP, the NWA captain did mention how odd it was for the XJ F/O to create a scene at the gate although he was happy with how I handled the situation and told me that he never had any problem with any XJ pilot ever. I do intend to leave a note for the Mesaba guy in his mailbox at MSP to help him understand how to be polite and all the details I have learned on this thread. I didn’t like it at all when he stormed towards me demanding to know my seniority number.

Thanks for all the help and please, please, please, always introduce yourself to the First Officer when jump seating!

This really does need to go through pro standards... No note; you don't need the potential conflict. This is exactly what pro-stans is for. Use it, you pay for it. Further, the Mesaba pilot group can't have people marching around demanding seniority numbers or any thing of the sort if we intend to continue enjoying the use of jumpseats. Don't let this guy mess it up for the rest of us. Just run the issue through pro-stans. PM me if you need to know who to contact and I will get you in touch with the right people to gently handle this.

PLEASE also make sure to inform a member of the pro stans comittee. This stuff can come back to bite all of us if it's not handled properly.

I thought Alaska was part of that group as well, or did they get kicked off when they stopped code-sharing sea-msp?
