In case you still need the formula, i think it's:

TAS = Mach No x LSS

and

LSS = 38.94 x (T)^1/2
(38.94 multiplied by square root of temperature in degrees kelvin)

so

TAS = Mach No x 38.94 (T)^1/2

If your E-6B doesn't have the mach number pointer buy one that does. Yeah, I know you will never use it again. Maybe one of your friends has one you can use.

Local speed of sound = 39.84*sqrt of temp in Kelvin.

Mach = TAS/LSS

I agree with the sheppard air thing I used it and got a 98. Its the best out there, just use that.

Mach 1 = sqrt(gamma*R*temperature)

Mach 1 (in meters/sec) = sqrt(1.4*287*(288.15+OAT))

Multiply that by 1.944 to get knots.

The final equation is below. It's accurate to within about 1 knot.
Mach No. x 1.944 x sqrt(401.8(273.15+OAT)).
