Default New Delta Pass Travel Policy

New travel policy posted on Mymesaba...

Wondering if someone here has an understanding of "yeild fare" for parents who travel over 18 travel days. What is the typical cost? My parents will easily go over 18 travel days; I'm wondering what the costs might look like after they use up the free travel. Further, is it 18 days per parent or 18 days total for all parent travel?

The annual fee... is it one $50 fee or is it per person listed?

18 days per parent. Yield fare is about 3.5 cents per mile. (so $20 from NY to BOS, a few hundred for Transcontinental) It's calculated differently for international. Usually worth it for non-peak travel outside the US. Not usually worth it for domestic. Annual fee is $50 flat rate, no matter how many people are listed. I think it's called a Travelnet fee or something.
Also FYI, if someone does go international on your pass benefits they have to pay the yield fare upfront but, the taxes and fees come out of YOUR paycheck. This can vary on destination from a couple hundred for London vs $10-20 for Canada. It for $13 for Dublin.

Default Travel Companion?

Does anybody know if the travel companion is charged for every flight or is it free, similar to a spouse or domestic partner?

For you guys at Mesaba and Compass, how is the nonrevving with NWA, i.e. how easy is it to get on behind NWA mainliners and their gaggle of parents, nondependants and retirees? I'm trying to find out if all us w/o nonrevvers are really going to be screwed, or it will just make it a little bit more difficult. I have a family of five, so I'm trying to determine if I have to split us all up on different flights inorder to get anywhere.

Usually it's not too bad. It depends on the destination and the aircraft type. If you are trying to get on a Sabb or CRJ, you might as well just walk to where you are going. However, sometimes routes with just a Sabb or a CRJ work out to your advantage when non-reving because most passengers try to avoid those airplanes if that route is serviced by a DC9 or Airbus.

It sucks the first time a 16 year old kid comes walking up to the gate and he/she takes the last seat because their mommy/daddy works for NWA....but after the first few times the sting goes away!!

It actually will get better for Mesaba, Comair and Compass as they all have priority, as wholly owned, over non-wholly owned.

Not, flaming... Just stating as it is written. This is for mainline only, of course.

Did the DL travel fee decrease from the $211-ish per family, back to $50?
