Capt. Craig Button committed suicide when he flew his A-10 attack jet into the side of a Colorado mountain last April.

The Air Force said Friday that it had only circumstantial evidence on which to base its finding, but that evidence could lead to no other conclusion.

``Capt. Button intentionally deviated from the planned flight and maneuvered the aircraft to the mishap site,'' the Air Force report states.

The release of the accident investigation report Friday comes after nearly seven months of investigation.

Wow, you really said that.

Have you read Renslow's training history?

He wasn't as well trained as a military pilot, you're the only person on earth arguing the contrary.

I think the point of this thread is this one guy an his brutal training record is making us all look bad, especially the Regional guys that ARE worth a damn.

I heard what the papers have printed if you can believe half of what you read. I'm not saying the guy did not screw up. But this whole arguement that military pilots are better than civilian pilots is a crock!

So if you took a bunch of guys whose only training is at ERAU, UND, Purdue, ATP, Gulftream, DCA and throw them into F-16's...you think they would be able to perform remotely better?

Would there be more or less bombs accidentally dropped?

Would there never be any airshow accidents?

Nobody would land with the Gear Up?

In general, for Military pilots to be considered better trained, we would have to have a PERFECT safety record?

I think you are putting words into peoples mouths. Military pilots are better trained. That's just common sense.

BUT, a civilian can develop into just as good a pilot, if not better, DESPITE not having the opportunity to go to UPT or Pensacola.

I think that same question could hold true for civilian pilots as well. Like I said earlier, lets take the lastest major airline crashes in the last 10 years and lets see who was PIC on those flights. I've already listed three AMR Crashes that were listed as pilot error. We at SWA have had three and they all were pilot error, flown by former military pilots. So for you or anyone else on this forum to say that military pilots are better pilots than civilian pilots is a crock!
