Well at RAH our contract would protect us from things like this but since the company only prints copies of the contract so they have backup paper on the toilet The FAA getting involved might not be so bad.

Good point.

im not sure what section of the contract TD's talking about but it would be nice to get some power back to the unions so they can get us more QOL in the contracts.
Maybe with the wonderful government running things we can get some big bonuses like the AIG guys!! |

How does your contract protect you if there is legislation passed that says crew members must now live within 2 hours of their base and are required to report for duty in person at their base 24 hours prior the start of a trip?

If they decide to do away with commuting they also better be ready to pay "cost of living" bonuses like they do for the rest of their employees.
Frankly, if I could live decently in the area, I'd LOVE to not have to commute again. |
Mandating a minimum wage for airline pilots by congress would not be a good thing for us. The minimum wage mandate would only cover the starting salary of a pilot. The airlines will reduce the annual increase in salary we have now and will defiantly reduce captain pay to make up for the difference.

Personally I see this as a slippery slope. Not much good comes out of congress... no matter who is running it and this will be no different. If they in some way regulate crew rest and if you can commute or not etc..... things could be really ugly. I mean to this point they have only suggested that commuting is a regional pilot thing... just what until they realize this is a major airline , cargo airline thing as well..... I could see things getting really really ugly.
Probably wont happen because its probably just a bunch of congressional hot air anyway... but like they say.... "be very careful what you wish for... you just might get it".... |
