Director of Operations

Summary:
The Director of Operations is responsible to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for maintaining the Company's mission of providing the safest, most reliable, and convenient air transportation for our passengers in accordance with Chautauqua's policies and procedures and in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration and other government regulations.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Functions as Director of Operations as per 14 CFR
  • Overall responsibility for operational control of airline flight operations
  • Represent Shuttle America with government, industry and communities in activities related to flight operations.
  • Develop and implement operational processes and reports to effectively and efficiently manage the department.
  • Participate in Operations Meetings to review the quality of system operations.
  • Has the authority to employ, discipline, reward or terminate assigned employees
  • Develop the budget for Flight Operations
  • Oversee the development, revision and distribution of the General Operations Manual (OPS Specifications, Sections A-C)and Weight and Balance Loading schedule per aircraft type.
  • Direct recruitment of flight crew members.
  • Review new markets and approve aircraft routing, ensuring compliance within the FAR requirements including 14 CFR subpart E prior to submitting them to be added to the Operations Specifications.
  • Oversee the quality of flight department training and ensure required FAA regulations are complied with.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.
Qualifications:
  • The Director of Operations must have an ATP certificate and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience within the most recent 7 years with a Part 121 operator.
  • Candidate should possess strong analytical and communications skills both written and oral,
  • Must have ability to evaluate and troubleshoot any problems and make decisions to correct.
  • Attention to detail
  • Be a self-starter/ Self Motivated
  • Understands Company procedures and policies
  • Ability to plan, direct and organize a department.
  • Ability to perform high-level decision making and goal setting
