Int'l Jumpseat

We can jumpseat international, but we just can't sit in the cockpit, correct?

Depends on the airline..........

More than likely, you can't ride on AA int'l. Maybe SkyWest is one of the FEW regionals that they reciprocate with for "international" purposes.

If you can land a jump on a cargo, esp. a 747, it is a primo ride overseas.
I jumped over to Amsterdam last Sept., arrived so refreshed, and it was the best trip from the US to Europe I ever had.
got to sit in the old FE seat for the takeoffs and landings. sleep in the recliners and, when available, the BED in back.

Trying to get from YYC to wherever in the US, then home. The two early United flights cxcled. I want to take NorthWest and assume we're allowed to ride in back. Guess I'll find out the hard way.

Northwest will Allow you. You can also list on Air Canada and Westjet they are likely offering something larger than a CRJ out of YYC.

If you dont mind going to tortonto or winnipeg Air Canada and Westjet are great rides. took West Jet to Vegas because Allegiant cancelled so i drove up to Winnipeg.

Not true...... You can jumpseat but you can't ride in the cockpit unless you are a NWA pilot.

would you say jumpseating on cargo would be more comfortable than first class on united or delta for example?

If it is any freighter with an available bunk or first/business class style seats, then yes...absolutely.

And no d-bag biz travelers (or other pax in general) mad b/c they "saw that guy get moved up to first."

About that--best story of my life on a 75 NWA DTW-DUS (when they still did that route...GOD I miss NWA...makes me want to cry)...I had just rushed to make the flight and was still in uniform...got a seat in coach, didn't have a chance to say hello to the flight crew...right as the door closes this d-bag biz traveler in coach runs up to the FA and says "I have Elite status, I saw you had some seats in First, could I go ahead and move up now?" FA looks right at me and then tells the biz traveler "there are seats up there, but I have no idea who you are, and there is a procedure for listing for first, so I can't let you just up and go there." I think she was planning on offering the seat to me, but felt uncomfortable doing so in front of the guy who had asked, since he was a paying pax and it might upset that guy seeing a pilot get moved up.

About 45 minutes into the flight, the senior CA comes back (I'm still 2 rows in front of the biz traveler guy) and says "I heard some guy back here wanted to sit in first, but that we also had a pilot back here...way I see it, that's YOUR seat up front..come with me son."

That CA was a class act, and the epitome of "the old school." I can only hope that one day after all the stuff the industry is going through that there will still be pilots like that on the line...
