let's start our own skywest rumor

New Report Just Published: World Aircraft Leasing Market Report | SYS-CON CANADA

since i'm not going to pay the $3950 for that report (and who knows what specific info is in there anyway?) i'm just curious if anyone has any insight into what this might mean: "Skywest Airlines Signs Contract with Capital Lease Aviation" ?

i know there's a skywest in australia, and this could be them. but hey, who knows, right?

--------------------------------
bah, never mind. more research found that it is the skywest in australia. darn them. and fokkers sounds so fun, too.

A Google search makes it apparent that this is the Australian Skywest. Although I couldn't find info on that specific new article, there are several similar articles from the past.

It appears that CLA and the Australian Skywest have some common management ties.

You hit the nail on the head with that one.

New careers in what? There's almost a 10% unemployment rate and rising. Where could they possibly go now, and WHY is another question.

Because there ARE jobs out there. My brother in law made $20k this month selling over the phone. He's a freakin' telemarketer selling refinance loans. No experience, no degree, nothing. He's gonna make twice what I make as a professional airline pilot with a 4 year degree. Not to mention my student loan payment. I don't get it.

Nonsense! After two decades in aviation and finally landing the coveted RJ FO position with a highly regarded airline, I found that there was very little reason to want to bear the hardships and I quit. Yes, it did take a little time to find other employment, but I landed a good job with a major public utility. Turns out that most pilots feel that they are not qualified to work in other fields, or are afraid to take the plunge into the unknown. Take it from me, that degree you earned will open doors in other industries. I still get to fly. I just choose when and where. Keep your chins up folks. If more people start to realize their real value, maybe the suits will have to too.

Most college educated folks who are airline pilots can easily transition to something else. If you don't have people skills, you will need to acquire some though.
