ASA To furlough

Let me give you some insight Sonny.
20 dollars an hour for an FO and 50 to 60 dollars an hour for a Captain is NOT A PROFESSIONAL WAGE. Its a "Prostitute your Skills Wage". Get it?? Let them shrink the airline. IF they really will. They will hurt themselves far worse by lost revenue versus paying what you should really be making. Let them furlough and send everyone home and park airplanes to their hearts content. Or say they will anyway. Because they wont do it. Its a scare tactic. Anyone making less than 80,000 a year flying right seat in a jet aircraft is comprimising the integrity of the profession. Face that fact. |

ALPA at the regional level is worthless. The NEW Reality is that we MUST be competitive or else shrink into oblivion. |
As long as an Airline allows another airline to codeshare with a seperate senority list...The problem of "One pilot group against another" will always be a factor with pay...When I worked at American Eagle(Flagship)...The AA pilots lost routes to our airline...We lost routes to the other 3 Eagles as contract time came around...That was 15 years ago...Nothing new and the Unions haven't learned a thing when dealing with this issue...There is no Unity in the airline industry even within ALPA, APA, Teamsters...You name it...There is no unity within the labor groups of the airlines themselves...Just what managment wanted...Those before us let it happen, We are letting it happen, and those that will be after us will let it happen...

It's all BS. There will be no furloughs. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't lose any airplanes. It's all contract negotiations smoke and mirrors.
Even if we did lose airplanes, there is still the unholy rate of attrition that would only increase if growth stops or reverses. They would need additional classes to cover that. Forget about furloughs. |
And Slappy, you are a low form of life to try to scare the junior FOs. Even management has not mentioned the F-word (except to say FU to the pilots if you read between the lines). If you have ever had to live through a furlough you would not be so casual about spouting out that kind of BS, especially when it isnt' true.

Also, be leery of management saying "You give us some money (i.e. concessions) and we can then get new airplanes, etc." ATA did this - they told the pilot group that if they gave up some pay, it would show Boeing and other creditors that everyone was on board, and that would guarantee the arrival of many brand-new 717's. Management got their money, pilots got nothing, and eventually got furloughed. I agree with captainkudzu, there is no mention of furloughs in that letter you posted. It is your typical letter from management trying to circumvent your MEC, and negotiate with the pilots directly. I've seen it before.
And, captainkudzu was correct as well in saying that it was irresponsible of you to spout off the "furlough" word. It DOES scare junior pilots, and it is very disconcerting. Let the company do that. |
