As far as I know, we don't have any rules against it but how do you get through security with them?

waflyboy 08-04-2009 12:27 PM

Why couldn't you go through security with them?

Bloodhound 08-04-2009 12:30 PM

Maybe they'll let you through with them as a crew member but they are on the TSA prohibited carry-on list.

lets see, 3 foot long metal and composite shanks with big metal lumps at the end.

nope, can't see why they could be construed as dangerous...

Oh, I didn't know that. But you can bring a guitar through... and that's something nicknamed an "axe."

Which can inflict more harm: a terrorist with a nine iron or Tom Greene with a guitar? Point made.

I see your point, but there are plenty of things that are probably "legal" to bring though security which could be used as a weapon. Hell, they've started using metal forks and knives again at some airport restaurants.... within the "sterile area."

You will have to risk it and check the golf clubs. Be sure the loads are looking good...

Trust me, you wont get them through security. i worked for xjt, before being furloughed and flew to my home town and wanted to pick up my golf clubs and bring them back with me. My dad brought them up for me and i tried to get through security with them and they pulled me aside for about an hour questioning me about why i wanted to bring my golf clubs on the plane. Nevermind i was in full uniform and all and they couldnt even provide a copy of the prohibited items there. So in answer to your question, NO, you cannot take them on the jumpseat or through security. You have to check them as checked baggage. I tried and failed.

We have metal forks and knives on our airplanes - in first class. :)

You can but they have to be checked at the ticket counter.
