Attn. SkyWest pilots.
O.K. so lots of our guys at Mesa and at least some of your guys have heard what could be a rumor or a fact. I am searching for the truth for us all.
Rumor or Fact: SkyWest has a program that was approved by the FAA last week to transition Mesa pilots onto their certificate with a reduced amount of training than initial training. Like a week of ground and 3 simulator lessons and then IOE.
I am wondering if any of you have seen any type of e-mail or GOM revision that would make this more than a rumor.
Do any of you have anything written from your company of info from your training center about this?

Besides the obvious pain represented by going thru intial on the same airplane twice (which I've pretty much done btw) why does it matter? Obviously Mesa hasn't hired in awhile, guys must meet skywest minimums by now.. even if they were freakishly low before.

I think it matters because if this is in fact the case it would dramatically reduce the overall training costs normally associated with hiring more pilots. It would also seem to give preferential treatment to the mesa pilot group, which is one of the reasons I doubt it's factual.

I've heard this to be true from the training department, whether it's been approved or not, I do not know. I also understand that it's for anyone who already has an SIC/PIC Type in the a/c they are going to fly for SKW.
I think this is no more than a way for SKW to reduce training cost seeing that a large majority of the pilots we hire have previous 121 experience in a/c we already fly.
WAVIT inbound works in our training department and would know more, if he’s able.
But again, I've heard this from the training department about a year ago and I'd expect it to be 100% true.
