Started as a ramper and worked as an ops supervisor in ORD, worked in the MX hanger and in SOCC then flew for a year and got furloughed. granted I am a twisted individule, but airline flying is not for everyone. If you want or can afford to live in base then your life is fantastic and reserve is not bad at all but if you commute and depending on the contract and the compnay, your life can get misreable. First year pay sucks but you can make ends meet just don't live out side your means. Schedules can be bad but you will always have your days off and they can roll your day but it will get restored. The flying can become boring doing the hub and spoke system but it is all what you make of it. Out of all the jobs I ever had, flying was by far the best and I was happy to go to work and on my days off I never took my work home with me. The travel benefits are great when flights are open and jumpseating can be the most painful experiance but better then being left behind. For now keep the job you have build up as much Turbin PIC time in the King Air but if airline flying is what you want to do, then do it.

Thanks for input.

It is not for everyone. That is for sure. Good luck.

I understand that. I enjoy the part 91 flying I do now. I am just looking ahead. You read some of the posts on this web site and you hear so many pilots **** and moan about flying for the regionals. I think i am the type of person who will always be happy as long as i am flying (and still able to pay the bills). I never want to have to get a real job ever again. Flying is way to much fun.

One other thing. The CRJs and the ERJs seem like they would be a lot of fun to fly. But thats just me.

And we say going back to flying a Baron looks like fun...

I fly the E190 for JetBlue now, and flew a 145 before that. I'm SERIOUSLY jealous of your G58 Baron! If you want to do the airlines in the future do it, but try to enjoy every second flying 91 you can. By far the most fun I've had making a living in airplanes was flying early 70s-vintage BE-58s with 285/side... the cadillac airplanes in that fleet were the ones that had HSI vs a separate DG/CDI. Beechcraft sure built some sweet-handling birds....
