Default pay attention

Maybe it's just me..but haven't you heard the Delta agreement will allow 76 seat rj's as of Jan '07.

These jets only have 70 seats now...but 3 classes 1st,Business,coach coming in January.

All for the same pay!!! And anyone who thinks this is okay is either new to the industyr, an idiot, or both.

Well, although Mesa does fly those 900's they do offer an overide pay for flying them. It isn't enough but it does pay more than the 700's. I guess maybe thats just me trying to make myself feel better about working under MAG.

Skywest is going to end up with ALPA onboard if they keep pushing the 50 seat payscale onto larger aircraft.

The debatable subject is: should pay be based on PAX load, or aircraft gross weight? These 900s will be essentially 700s with regard to PAX load, but a heavier, longer aircraft that demands more responsibility...

Seats. Otherwise airlines will start buying airplanes made of foam-rubber composite to reduce weight and labor costs

I don't know that a pilot's amount of responsibility has anything to do with a "heavier, longer aircraft". A pilot in a J-3 has the same responsibility of a pilot in a A-380, which is to safely complete a flight.

The only true metric one may use for commercial airlines is productivity. A larger A/C may carry more passengers or weight, generating more revenue for the company, thus the pilot is more productive. Two pilots carrying 480 people have been more productive than two pilots carrying 19.

Browntail, Grow up!!!! Your attitude stinks. Its pretty sad that a professional person as yourself has your particular attitude. I can only imagine what your like in real life. I bet, that you are an egotistical imbecile; that not many people like. I would hate to be on a 5 day trip with someone like you. Act like a professional, your paid like one.

I don’t mean to diminish your point of view. Your statement about responsibility is true… regarding operations in domestic airspace and concerning the basic 4 fundamentals of flight. Beyond that, there are added responsibilities not only to the Captain, but the F/O too. There are more passengers, more flight attendants to watch over (which can be handful in itself), and international operations just to name a few.

You are 100% right my friend, unfortunately!

What needs to happend is for ALPA to step in all of the regionals and put limits to to the amount of seats ANY regional can fly! Sure...I dont care if a regional has a CRJ900 or a 717...but they better not have more than 70 seats. Anything above 70 seats is just hurting the jobs of ALL airline pilots out there. I dont care if you are in the left seat of an RJ or a 777, the bottom line is that regionals should only be a step for all airline pilots...and not a career!
