9-E Pilots....Are You Back To Talking
.......muttering in the FD.......or twiddling your thumbs in regard to you labor talks..
You guys must enjoy long surgery with out pain killers or being put to sleep.. What is the hang up.....trying to replace your MEC that does not sleep in the same bed as management???? |
Actually you pretty much summed it up correctly. Elections are in progress.
|
We replaced the N.C and not much change has happened since... I am for recalling the MEC chairman.... S.E is got to go!! His actions are those of one sharing a bed with the company.
|
The vote for the MEM reps was moved around after schedules were published (shifty!) and were made for Friday evenings when only senior pilots could attend.
A gaggle of super-senior MEM captains showed up to try and vote in a person who was not even a MEMBER of the union for a decade and a half. ***?!?! These old farts only want their raise and to heck with everyone else. They feel they've laid in the fouled bed they have made for themselves long enough you should be grateful to do the same. What scumbags. As I said when I worked there years ago, the real enemy is not management it is the top 100 loser lifers on the seniority list (mostly in MEM) who know they have no where else to go so they take any abuse management dishes out. I see nothing has changed. |

I see nothing has changed. If it were only the top 100 guys, we would have had a larger no-TA vote. If it were only the top 100 guys, we wouldn't have the best on-time in the industry. it takes a whole pilot group for that, not just 100 guys. No I am not in the 100 club :) |

I wouldn't give him that much credit... incompetent would be a better description.

Ha, if you really think a regional MEC chair is incompetent - and I presume you weren't at the TA road shows, I can only imagine you think Lee Moak is a complete and utter failure. Signing back door deals to further erode the junior pilot positions after great gains in the JPWA...
As far as Moak- I consider him a leader with good abilities in bringing groups together and getting things done, but sold out too much on the mgmt side of things. Too much of a politician in that regard, and from our conversations, you know my personal feelings on politicians. |

Don't think he's in bed with 9E mgmt. |
Every MEC is in bed with mgmt. It is a fact of life or necessity. You cannot have a relationship when it is constantly hostile.
Look back at your individual MEC's and you will see those policies, LOA's, grievances, other items that while not blessed by the MEC allowed by the MEC. I think the term is "reasonableness", something I heard uttered from SE more than once. So, is he in bed with Mgmt? probably not as much as some wish, but surely he has spent time in bed with them. So did the previous chair and about every chair of every MEC on every ALPA property. Otherwise, nothing would get done. That does not mean he is not behind the pilots. SE is into his second year, his legacy will be based on his accomplishments and failures. What most pilots look at is not the accomplishments of years of service, but of the NOW or what happened yesterday. |
The real question is not if SE is in bed with anyone. Or the MEC as a whole for that matter.
The real question is how many 9E pilots still think the union at its current structure could bring a change? If to judge by the participation results of every union function (polls, surveys pickets etc) - very little. |

If to judge by the participation results of every union function (polls, surveys pickets etc) - very little. Look at the participation on the property over the last 8-9 years, the structure is the same, the players just change. Participation over that time period, 2 maybe 3 times there was better than 95% participation. Why so few times over that period? that is the question that needs to be asked of the pilot group, not of the leadership. what is that adage? you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink? |
who's 9-E?

So has there been a date set for you guys to go back to negotiating with the company? When are all of the elections finished?
|
Elections in Memphis close tomorrow at 10am (et I think but not 100% sure). The NC committee sent out an update to all members on last week's negotiations and there are a couple teleconferences this week followed by the 15th of december through the end of that week (tues-fri) and the tues-fri on the week of Dec 28. This update was also sent to every 9e pilot's email- if you are a pinnacle pilot and getting this update for the first time go to crewroom.alpa.org and/or airlinkpilots.com and update you email. As far as actual progress, the editorial review of the TA was completed- now we are at the point of being able to do actual negotiations. If a pinnacle pilot has questions call or email a rep.

here is the link to the progress of the pinnacle airlines negotiations - and a link that describes this airline in general.
