andy171773 11-10-2009 09:18 AM

Geez..looks like the vote turnout was pretty paltry

paxhauler85 11-10-2009 09:43 AM

It's much easier to not vote and complain, then vote, and actually attempt to have your voice heard.

Pilots aren't the only people who subscribe to this ideal. It's a nationwide problem.

John Pennekamp 11-10-2009 10:18 AM

We have long struggled with low voter turnout here. Fat, dumb, and happy I guess.

andy171773 11-10-2009 10:46 AM

Well good luck to ya'll..

Not that I will be participating, as I am furloughed with no hope of recall from Comair...but I wouldn't want to be in the CMR MEC's position come contract re-negotiation...I expect a blood bath.

selcal 11-10-2009 10:59 AM

Hopefully they communicate as they said they were going to.

av8sean 11-10-2009 11:32 AM

Imagine if every regional airline used APC as their company message board. At least it's just ASA who does.

ASA threads suck

Here's a tip: if it says ASA in the title, then don't read it...

JetPipeOverht 11-10-2009 01:56 PM

I voted....I like to feel I made a difference. If you average it out, those who voted actually ' spoke ' for about 30-40 people per vote !

So why did you come in here then? Why bother reading it if it sucks so bad?

Good point! I voted which means...

...I am all powerful!

afterburn81 11-10-2009 07:32 PM

Haven't paid my insurance in like 2 months. So they wouldn't let me vote.

ohplease! 11-10-2009 07:39 PM

Are you willing to do the job?

PCL_128 11-10-2009 08:29 PM

What sort of "change" were they proposing?

Don't worry about it, PCL. Worry about your own house.

Maxcackel 11-11-2009 08:21 AM

How many votes did the write ins like Pree get?

IMO, they will be more pragmatic in their dealing with the company, and less likely to blindly follow ALPA national or DALPA. I also think they will be more accessible and more willing to communicate. I supported them, and am more encouraged about ALPA here at ASA than I have been for a long time.

2 of the 4 have zero ALPA experience, and I consider that a huge plus...

I don't think PCL would approve of the results....:D

Seabat 33 11-11-2009 06:28 PM

Congrats to all elected!

Steve and Rich are good guys and should serve the pilot group well.

If you don't want people from other carriers asking, you probably should just post it on your internal web boards. Why the secrecy?

I don't really care either way. I was just curious.

So the FO reps don't matter? I hope ALL of our newly elected reps serve us well.

Ummm, thats the first thing I said. I don't have any idea who the FO's are, but I know Steve, Rich, Danny and Nick. They all would have done a fine job representing EVERYONE!

Again, Congrats to all elected!

It was for all of the ASA pilots who read this board, and not the internal one (that few people even know exists).

Why the secrecy? Because ALPA chest thumpers like you and Rez cringe when 10 year ALPA veterans get replaced by new faces, and call your buddies in Herndon to drop the hammer on them as soon as they take office.

There will be some serious change in the way the ASA MEC is run, and it will be changes that are good for the ASA pilot group, not necessarily what's good for Alpa with a capital A. The reason the incumbents got thrown out is that they've been too focused on Alpa, Dalpa, and the FFD Task Force for too long, and not focused enough on ASA. THAT is what's going to change. We elected reps who are going to (to steal JM's terms) take a pragmatic approach to issues and do what's best for the pilot group AND the long term health of the company.

I certainly wouldn't do that, and knowing Rez, neither would he. I really have little connection to the current ASA reps, so it makes no difference to me. Whatever you guys think is best. I only got worried three years ago because it was John's buddies. If it's not his hand-picked "Jackson 4," then I don't really care.

That all sounds good, especially the part about eschewing DALPA. As long as LM's running things up there, they should keep their distance, in my opinion. I wish the new reps luck.

PCL, once you meet Andy Hale, you won't have anything to worry about. At least on the FO side.

He's a great guy that shares a very similar trade union philosophy as you and I.

Definitely NOT the case. You know me better than that.

BTW, John had very little if anything to do with that coalition.
