ASA ALPA election results
Prescott- 221 votes
Viars- 150 (Utley- 141, Tomlin- 130) Hale- 227 Armstrong- 197 (Hodgson- 108, Freese- 96) Congrats, Steve, Rich, Andy, and Ken! I hope they carry out the platform of change we elected them to! |
Geez..looks like the vote turnout was pretty paltry
|
It's much easier to not vote and complain, then vote, and actually attempt to have your voice heard.
Pilots aren't the only people who subscribe to this ideal. It's a nationwide problem. |
We have long struggled with low voter turnout here. Fat, dumb, and happy I guess.
|
Well good luck to ya'll..
Not that I will be participating, as I am furloughed with no hope of recall from Comair...but I wouldn't want to be in the CMR MEC's position come contract re-negotiation...I expect a blood bath. |
Hopefully they communicate as they said they were going to.

Imagine if every regional airline used APC as their company message board. At least it's just ASA who does.
ASA threads suck |

I voted....I like to feel I made a difference. If you average it out, those who voted actually ' spoke ' for about 30-40 people per vote !

Haven't paid my insurance in like 2 months. So they wouldn't let me vote.

2 of the 4 have zero ALPA experience, and I consider that a huge plus... |

Don't worry about it, PCL. Worry about your own house.

Congrats to all elected!
Steve and Rich are good guys and should serve the pilot group well. |

So the FO reps don't matter? I hope ALL of our newly elected reps serve us well.
Again, Congrats to all elected! |

If you don't want people from other carriers asking, you probably should just post it on your internal web boards. Why the secrecy?
I don't really care either way. I was just curious. Why the secrecy? Because ALPA chest thumpers like you and Rez cringe when 10 year ALPA veterans get replaced by new faces, and call your buddies in Herndon to drop the hammer on them as soon as they take office. There will be some serious change in the way the ASA MEC is run, and it will be changes that are good for the ASA pilot group, not necessarily what's good for Alpa with a capital A. The reason the incumbents got thrown out is that they've been too focused on Alpa, Dalpa, and the FFD Task Force for too long, and not focused enough on ASA. THAT is what's going to change. We elected reps who are going to (to steal JM's terms) take a pragmatic approach to issues and do what's best for the pilot group AND the long term health of the company. |

PCL, once you meet Andy Hale, you won't have anything to worry about. At least on the FO side.
He's a great guy that shares a very similar trade union philosophy as you and I. |

I only got worried three years ago because it was John's buddies. If it's not his hand-picked "Jackson 4," then I don't really care.
BTW, John had very little if anything to do with that coalition. |
