EMB 175 W/B Question
Hey there!
I would appreciate input anyone may have.. I am a furloughed ASA pilot, working as a customer service supervisor.. we get EMB-175's at our station. One of our agents accidently added 35 bags more in the forward cargo hold than there actually were. We caught the error before they started to taxi and had the crew change it in the FMS.. I am not familiar with the W/B specs of the aircraft.... In what way would this error significantly affect the CG/performance data for the 175 considering the engines are mounted on the wing? I am used to the CRJ specs.. Thanks for any info you may have! :) |
My company's w&b program assigns a weight of 30 lbs per bag in the cargo bins. In this case, the plane was about 1000 lbs lighter thN calculated, which would only serve to improve actual t/o performance. The issue is more likely with actual cg vs. planned. A 1000 lb difference likely means thepitch trim was set incorrectly by a few tenths. Not enough to make the plane uncontrollable in most cases, but itcould lead to some unexpected pitch characteristics on rotation. As long as crew was made aware, that can be recalculated on the ACARS with no real delay.
