XJT opens up FA jumpseat to OAL pilots...
Currently Jet Blue is the only carrier allowing this and now XJT is getting on board. Hopefully more airlines follow suit. One extra seat is sometimes all it takes. The priority for the FA jumpseat is as follows:
·Assigned FA if required to have two flight attendants on board ·Inflight personnel on Company business during an oversell situation ·XJT FA on personal travel ·Flight attendant from major carrier for which flight is being operated traveling on personal travel ·FA (with reciprocal FA jumpseat agreement in place) ·Other Continental Express/Connection (on flight operated as Continental Express) or United Express (on flight operated as United Express) flight attendant with authorized jumpseat privileges on ExpressJet ·Any FA from another airline with authorized jumpseat privileges on ExpressJet ·XJT pilots ·XJT dispatchers/mechanics ·Pilot from a major carrier for which flight is being operated traveling on personal travel – e.g. Continental/Continental Micronesia pilot on flight operated as Continental Express; ·United pilot on flight operated as United Express ·OAL pilots |

BTW, since it blocks the lav entry when it's out, usually the working F/A will ask you to get up and fold it away once above 10,000 FT and then you can sit in the main jumpseat while they perform their service. |
Just be nice to them, even as a company pilot we try to make sure that the FA gets to sit down when not actively working.
