If you haven't noticed, professionalism is a one way street at the airlines. They rely on your fear of doing something stupid and killing a bunch of people to keep you alert for 12 15 hours. I compltely agree that something has to be done about the current regulations pertaining to, but not limited to, required rest and duty time. Until then, if your company, like many, exploits the current, outdated and unsafe regulations, which causes you to become fatigued then please call out fatigued.
