Quick Skywest CRJ900 Question

Skywest folks,

Are the CRJ 900s ever weight restricted on a flight, say STL-SLC?

Thanks.

I've been on the 900 for over a year now...have not had any problems getting JS on..short or long flights shouldn't be a problem

BOW is 49,000
76 winter time pax (full boat) weigh about 15,000
Typical 3000 pounds of bags.

About 67,000 zero fuel weigh (well below the limit)

Still leaves about 18,000 pounds of fuel (holds 20,000) for max 85,000 pounds.

To get to the max landing of 75,000 for the CRJ-900LR, it would have to burn 10,000 pounds of fuel, which takes about 2.5 hours. Trips that land with 3000-ish pounds of fuel are very easy to be under landing weight.

Very flexible plane.

Today, I flew a full boat of pax, relatively light bags, and tankered 13,000 fuel on a very short hour flight, then continued on to the next airport, less than another hour away. Burnt 6500 total, and landed under weight both times.

I've been weight restricted MSY-SLC before. Headwinds plus alternate fuel will do it. Additionally, when you top of the fuel tanks for a long flight your max takeoff can be down under the 85K weight. I'll let someone else explain that, but it can push the limit down in the 82K range.

I've only seen this a couple times, most flight wouldn't have a problem.

Only left people behind once due to weight and balance issues. DTW-SLC no alternate, full fuel, and 170kt HW. Left behind 4 revenue and a jumpseater.

Very, very rarely.

4 years on the plane, twice I've had a weight issue. once on a Toronto - SLC we were overweight with full bags, full pax, and full fuel. Another time MSY-SLC with 150KT h/winds and alternate fuel, we bumped 4 pax.

I've been left behind on a ORD-SLC flight. Pulled me from the JS and one rev standby.
