Opinions Needed
Hi all, This is the situation I'm in.
I am in the pool with Republic.
I have just been asked to interview with XJT.
My wife is a Flight attendant with Continental and I want to be based in either Houston or Newark to be with her.
I am confidant I can pass the XJT interview but knowing what to do if I do get the option to start with them is a big decision.
I wish I could see into the future to see if 1. Republic (Chautauqua)will have bases in IAH or EWR now that they are supposedly going to be a Continental express carrier, and 2, if I did start with XJT what would my longevity be like. I don't want to be a last in first out furlough as I know no one does.
Can I get some opinions,
Thanks

Being in a hiring pool is not a job offer. You could be there for many many moon. They will hire people who hired after you did. How they pull people out of the hiring pool is a total mystery.
The point being, do not wait for Republic to call. Get more resume out there and interview for any and all that call. Then go with there first one with an actual job offer. If you get more than one offer you can decide what to do then.
Good Luck.

I agree with 18 wheeler. Cross that bridge when the time comes. For now, focus on the upcoming XJT interview. if they offer you (or Republic offers you) a class date, then you need to decide which is your better course of action.

Do XJet. The worst that will happen is they will furlough you and give their flying to CHQ..if that happens, go to CHQ as they will be hiring in this scenario. This should all play out soon so you wouldn't lose much seniority.

CHQ flying for Continental is just a prospect. That was if X-Jet was to give the aircraft back, which they didn’t. There is no company out there that can get there hands on 69 regional jets by mid 2007, so most of the flying will be renegotiated by X-Jet. The rest will be split amongst those with extra 145’s like TSA. Any regional airline is like pulling straws… Good Luck!
