First speeding ticket in ten years today

Had my first speeding ticket in ten years today. Driving record before that was not the best, but clean in over ten years. How would this effect any Regional interviews in the coming weeks and months?

lets see:
  • 3 traffic tickets, two in the past 12 months prior to interviews--
    1) Ran red light 2) Disobeying traffic control device (speed limit sign) and 3) outright speeding
  • 4 accidents (only first one was my fault, that was 6+ years ago), but various minor ones throughout, including someone rear ending me and somone coming into my lane and T-boning me
  • suspended license (about 5 years prior) due to getting a traffic infraction under 18 (state law)

On the applications that asked about my driving record, I still recieved calls for interviews.

On the interviews where they asked about my driving record, we just joked about it. Almost everyone speeds at one point in their life, just try not to let it happen again :).

I wouldn't sweat it AT ALL. You'll be fine as long as you interview well.

Exactly. Just be honest and upfront about it and it should be an all but insignificant issue. Do NOT do what my old roommate did and tell an interviewer that you received the ticket because you were going the same speed as everyone else but were pulled over because you have a highly visible red car.

Well I figured one speeding ticket wasn't a big deal. I was just worried about it being so recent and right before some interviews. Besides that, my last ticket almost 11 year ago was the Big Bad One that I got reduced to a careless driving. I will of course confess and I am not going to try and hide it during any inverviews. It was immature and irresponsible, but I most definitely learned my lesson and have since cleaned up my act. As you can tell by the following 10 years. Well, except for this last one of course. Thanks guys.

Everybody understands that most people get a ticket occasionally.

They are more interested in your pattern over the last 3-5 years...one ticket is no biggy whether it was three years ago or three days ago.

One ticket last week is way better then 4 tickets last year.

I wouldn't worry bout it. Regional airline jobs are some of the easiest to get in the industry. That's why they can all pay so poorly. You'll be fine.

Get a lawyer and have it reduced to improper equipment or just plain thrown out. Viola, no speeding ticket - no worries and the bigger thing is your insurance rates won't go up.

X-Jet dosen't even ask you about your driving record.

Its likely you can take defenive driving (do the take home course) or pay a fee and be on a "probation." If you don't get another ticket within a certain period, they'll take it off your record. Just call whoever issued the ticket (county, city, etc) and ask how to keep it off your driving record. In the last 6 years I've gotten 2 tickets and they were just those freak moments where I was going 10 or 12 over. I was mad, becauase I'm very careful to not go too much the speed.
