Do regionals give all pilots a laptop?

QXrjdriver 07-23-2006 12:08 PM

No. I don't know of any regional that gives its pilots a laptop.

usmc-sgt 07-23-2006 12:41 PM

I dont work for a regional but check out their pay scales....

If they pay them barely enough to eat ramen then it wouldnt make sense that they would be graced with laptops. That is almost a months salary

KZ1000Shaft 07-23-2006 12:43 PM

LOL. Thanks, I needed to hurt myself laughing.

cyrcadian 07-23-2006 12:44 PM

Forget the laptop . . . give me a lapdance!

usa3000go 07-23-2006 02:24 PM

i didn't know if the pilots needed them for any cockpit procedures

Very few companies out there do the technology thing for pilots/employees.

JetBlue has laptops and NetJets pilots get Blackberries. Some corporate flight departments issue laptops or other forms of electronic devices.

Most airlines don't even contribute towards pilots cellphone costs.

Fokker28 07-23-2006 03:20 PM

Well, pay varies widely. We don't all make ramen wages.

No laptops here at Horizon, but we are getting EFBs late this year (until they push it back).

FlyerJosh 07-23-2006 04:12 PM

Fokker28 is right... I made it up to mac 'n cheese wages when I worked at ACA! I could even afford a frozen pizza from time to time! Nothing but name brand ramen for me!

:D

Oscar13601 07-23-2006 05:49 PM

Dude, where u got that from???? Laptops:confused:
I work at ExpressJet, a decent company, and I never heard of something like that...

Ottopilot 07-24-2006 04:08 PM

I have my own laptop. I keep all the company manuals on it and the pilot contract. Plus it gives me something to do crossing the Atlantic (DVD's). :D

Pilot41 07-24-2006 04:32 PM

You're kidding, right?

Ottopilot 07-24-2006 05:25 PM

Yea, right.

You're not getting the coffee and blowjob because you're forgetting to leave the PA on...

Um, no.

Back when I was a junior FO jumpseating home coast-to-coast on legacy us airways, the captain asked me if I was going home...I said yes. He asked if I had a wife or girlfriend...again I said yes. Then he asked how long it had been since I had been home...a couple weeks I told him.

So he says we'd better get you in the right frame of mind...and proceeded to pull out a laptop and fire up his collection of classic 70's porno...for 5 hours!

Note: He did verify that all three people in the cockpit were ex-navy before he did this.

Ha, Great Rickair... Sadly, probably no one could dare pull that one off today... or could they?! :D

Since we have strayed into the porno realm....
Out here (Iraq) 1 out of 10 Marines has either:

a: external hard drive of at least 100gb
b: laptop with roughly 60gb

and in most cases both are completely running at 90-95% FULL of porn...and that is just some Marines....others have over 200+GB full

I am no saint by any means but I was not even aware that much porn even existed...when you have 200gb it starts getting pretty obscure..ie..pets, tools, farm animals...ok I will stop because this isnt really appropriate for this forum but you get the idea
