Skywest Jumpseat help

Hey Im new to the forum, so I hope im putting this in the right place. Im an ExpressJet guy, commuting out of Bakerfield CA. I was denied the jumpseat(and a regular seat) on the way to work because " Our CASS is broke indefinately". The station is run by Skywest (DBA United Express). They had plenty of room in the back of the plane, but the gate agent stated all non revs must have "paper tickets (id90, zed, etc). Any chance getting a word to the jumpseat coordinator. Obviously we have a reciprocal, and are in CASS. little help?

I don't work for Skywest anymore, but just make sure to send the full narrative of what happened to your jumpseat coordinator. They'll be able to contact the Skywest jumpseat coordinator about the situation.

I wonder if this could be related to this situation we talked about a couple of months ago....

Looks like it's not just flight attendants, but pilots too.

it shouldnt be a problem for pilot jumpseaters, but since they said CASS is broke, that could be a major prob for OAL jumpseaters. Again contact your jumpseat coordinator. Do you have united benefits for UAL yet with expressjet?

CASS doesn't matter. The agents are confused by the wonderful memo that United sent out to all stations. The message basically stated that "all cabin jumpseat agreements were recinded, and that OMC's must ride in the actual jumpseat". Of course, they balked when asked about it, and said that it was only supposed to be directed toward flight attendants. However the memo was already disseminated, and there is much confusion now among all the gate agents. I'm pretty sure that United did this on purpose to create the confusion, probably banking on the fact they might get some more dough thru ID90's and ZEDS. The only way to remedy this is to talk with the crew. I try to be proactive about this and check at the front counter on each flight, but places like Bakersfield it is impossible (on a turn). Next time try and demand to speak with the captain, or at least have them radio a message to the airplane, so we can get this fixed. United has been screwing with our jumpseat procedures so much I'm suprised it even still works at all anymore....ugh :(

This is a sign from God that you should think about moving out of Bakersfield.

Even if CASS is down, they should still give you a seat in back.

that is completely unacceptable. i work for skywest and there's no way that should happen. i will forward this to OUR jumpseat coordinator so he can look into it.

if you could somehow see the captain in that situation, he would demand that you be let on the plane (i know i would). but i also know that sometimes the gate agents won't let you see the captain. that stinks.

believe me, skywest PILOTS don't do that stuff...but we can't control what the gate agents do. there are skywest gate agents who keep skywest pilots off of skywest flights too, so it's not just you. i'm sorry that happened to you though.
