Unity for the furloughed
Got this in an email from Teamsters.... It seems that more people are interested in "helping out" the company than their furloughed buddies. Very sad and selfish....
We’re Not the Only Ones Tired of Understaffing. We have been hearing comments from the Ops building from people who are tired of searching for non-existent pilots to fly trips. One Captain was told we are so understaffed that if pilots ever stopped picking up trips, Horizon would need to hire more in about two weeks. |

It happens everywhere. People can't look past the quick money to realize that just holding out a month would change everything. They would hire, it would show some unity and then people could go back to picking up open time.

At the same time, a more efficient airline will eventually lead to more flying... I am furloughed too, but the company has to make money in order for us to be recalled, or everyone hits the street when the company goes under...

unity? you got a better chance of finding gold on the moon. you think a union is about unity? not a chance. its about the people at the top lookin out for themselves. how many people does the age 65 rule benefit? its screwed alot more than it benefits. short story...the police union in my town voted down a wage freeze eventhough it meant putting 60+ cops out of a job. you ask about unity? those guys at the top were more concerned about a measly 3% raise than they are 60+ of their fellow police men. not to mention public safety. there is no unity.

We're just to selfish for unity. I've been furloughed from ExpressJet for almost a 1 year and 8 months. I've spoken to pilots that have been flying 90 plus hours a month during this time, while I was wondering how I was going to feed my daughter. Now the company is offering 200% open-time pickups! I bet my paycheck most pilots will pick those trips up in a heartbeat. It's sad, but there's no unity, period! Reality check!
