Looks like America West got the blame for this one. I bet the shuttle guy was one of those 300 hour guys huh? Hopefully MESA will do some serious ass whipping. |
did i miss something? the way i read it is America West is to blame, why will MESA get his ass whipped?

According to flightaware, AWE 6008 comes up as Mesa. It was America West Express, opereated by Mesa.

Fortunately ass whipping went out in the days of slavery not that JO won't bring it back, furthermore there are no 300 hour guys taxiing anything more than a 21" roller suitcase at Mesa, Capt's only. Besides that you can not taxi an RJ from the right seat. The fact that the AMASS was down doesn't help and this bull**** of intersection takeoffs does not help matters either. Had the Sky west E120 taken off from the end of the runway they would of been long gone prior to the encroaching mesa flight. I would not in anyway blame anyone other than the crew who breeched the runway, period it is there fault for not verifying the clearance. Not that we know the whole story for all we know they were cleared to cross. This armchair quarterbacking from guys with weekends off sucks too, you fly into LAX for maybe the first time and see how disoriented it can be. |
Any America West 6XXX flight is in fact Mesa. There will obviously be company and FAA investigations. The FAA does not have a sense of humor on incursions anymore, especially 121 / 121 incursions.

This guy thought ATC told him to hold short of a taxiway after crossing the runway, eventhogh ATC never actually said cross the runway. I can't believe it, it's a dumb mistake, when you are rolling out of the outer runway and you hear hold short from the controllers it should be an instinct to hold short of the inner runway. Anyways I can't imagine what the pax were seeing out of that MESA plane and what the Skywest pilot had to tell their pax about their abrupt takeoff. "Yea, folks, we almost just died"

ohhh ok i misread it

Like others, I have an opinion as to who was at fault; unlike them, I am keeping it to myself. Just sad to see other pilots "eating thier own." Remember, we are all human. When the day comes YOU make your mistake, do you want other pilots p!ssing on your grave?
we all live in glass houses... including me |
oh, an another little note: I am not condeming, nor condoning, but while we in the states moan about 300 hours pilots (SIC), the FAA approves of any commercial pilot (amel) being SIC. Additionallly, consider Quatus and thier minimums for Direct Entry Captains
