question about the AE sim check

Can anyone who recently interviewed at American Eagle, (or any one who has direct knowledge of this), tell me about the simulator they have you fly as part of the sim check at this interview. I understand it's not full motion and that it simulates the Beech Baron aircraft. Specifically, can anyone tell me if it has an HSI, RMI, both neither??? If it does not have these what does it have??

If this question has been asked before I apologize. Thanks in advance.

I was told it's a wrap around Frasca with a G1000.

Actually I just need to know if it has an HSI, RMI, or both... Or does it have just a simple compass card (directional gyro) with a separate simple VOR indicator (with the pivoting needle at the top of the indicator) for navigation? In other words are you doing holds and ILS's with an HSI or are you doing these with instruments like the ones in an old Cessna 152???

Again thanks in advance for any info

She said G1000. In other words...."glass". It shouldn't matter anyway, all basic NAV info is the same.

Its a G1000 HSI with the RMI overlay..... no need/they wont let ya use the RMI - Just nav 1. If you dont have G1000 time GO GET SOME

Real basic, no big deal. It's LAX or FWA. Takeoff, climb to 3,000, enter a hold, one turn (maybe not even, if you look like you know what you're doing). Descend, ILS with the flight director, ILS without the flight director. Done. It's all glass. Not a thing complicated about it. The instructor will do most of the control manipulation anyway. If you can hold an airplane upright, shoot an ILS on glass, and follow a FD, you're golden.

There is FWA, LAX, MEM, and DFW.

I think the best advise given in the interview was 'for every phase of flight, there is an associated checklist'. So remember to call for them.

Some guy with a ridiculous comb-over will do the sim eval

Again, thanks to all the replies... Went to the interview, all the posts above were correct in their descriptions. Got the conditional job offer and now just waiting at home drinking orange juice.

Again with much humble gratitude, thanks to everyone.

It was a Boeing 707 when I did it...seriously. My first step up from a seneca was that ride, in 4-engine straight-turbojet transport.

shfo 06-30-2010 08:31 AM

It was a 707 up until around 2005. Then they started doing using the ATR. Some people got the Saab when the ATR was down or being used. It's too bad they aren't using the real sims anymore. That was actually a fun part of the interview.

That "guy" is one of the best pilots I have ever flown with. He also happens to be very very senior with many years over at the school house. Probably not an appropriate comment for a public forum if you want to get hired at Eagle.

Iowa Farm Boy 07-03-2010 03:23 AM

I think he's Seniority Number 2 in the company. If you ever get notice that he'll be doing your PC, rejoice. A very straight forward no nonsense event. I guess he's more concerned with substance, not image.

He'll treat you right, even if HE thinks YOU look ridiculous.

meeko031 07-05-2010 06:12 PM

agreed, he looks intimidating but was surpised when he opened his mouth. Very pleasant guy!:)

mrmak2 07-05-2010 06:44 PM

They also used the old F100 sim for a while
