Think about who owns/owned the aircraft....

How many of ASA's aircraft does SkyWest actually own outright? How many do they hold the leases to?

Hiring Rumors

Hey guys, any update on hiring rumors for Atlantic Southeast? With all the furloughs recalled, and the current staffing levels (from what I have heard), hiring should be soon. Any opinions?

No source of course...just mere individual speculation and some side information from a furloughed pilot who was a crew scheduler during his period on furlough...

We're going to need to hire at least 20-30 just to get a stable staffing model. With no attrition.

With attrition, it's all gonna depend on when these guys jump ship - but could be upwards of 100 before summer 2011.

Any idea when they will start looking for people? If they are understaffed by 20 to 30 now, you would think that they would at least begin to look.

They fixed the problem for probably the rest of the year. They won't start looking until staffing is back into crisis mode. That's the ASA way. This company's long term planning is about two weeks.

That's hilarious!! At least it is longer than reliable weather prediction.

On the other hand, I was hoping that they might be looking sooner than later. I may have an offer soon where I would have to commute with no chance of an ATL base. ATL based is worth more than money right now. Of course, I could just keep flying Part 135 and be home every day.

I would expect ASA to start hiring off the street in January 2011.

In my recall class now at ASA. Certain higher-ups have been in the office on days off, freaking out because we do not have a hiring department set up. Get those resumes ready!!!
