Kind of confused over this group interview thing. Is it a real interview or just some kind of open house? Also, how much prior notice are guys given for interviews and are they given choices for what day? Thanks.

Well they go from one to another. You are given choices for the days. The group interviews seem to be done outside of SLC. I think most if not all of the SLC interviews are done on 1 on 1 type of deal. If you know a date I can take a stab at what I think it will be?

Heythey have a few group interview dates posted on their website, the interviews are in the next few weeks in MO and IL. I am 135 right now and trying to GTFO! I'm curious because days off are hard for me to get and if i call in sick for an interivew Ill be fired. Do you know if pilots are hired directly from group interviews and given class dates?

I'm not sure but i think those group interviews are part 1 and part 2 is in SLC.

The group interview is part 1. Depending on circumstances, it may consist of simply a meet & greet, or they may administer written tests and maybe one-on-one informal interviews. They may invite you to part 2.

Part 2 is the real interview in SLC. It consists of written (ATP & Mechanical Aptitude), HR/Technical Interview(s), Sim Ride (Frasca or ATC 810), and CRM scenario in a cockpit mock-up. I'm pretty sure that you don't have to repeat stuff that you may have done in the group interview. During this process they will tell you either "No thanks, try again in 6 months", "Go home and wait to hear from us", or they may offer you a class date on the spot.

Some folks get invited to part 2 without attending part 1 just by submitting their resume (or getting it walked in)...do you have a CRJ type rating?

Nobody gets hired without attending part 2.

Hey thanks, that answers alot of my questions. I hope I can get in via a resume for the SLC part, when I get days off they are a one shot deal. I don't have a CRJ type, I'm SIC in a turboprop. I don't want to give away too much info about my current job as we have company people who peruse this site and others :eek:

I've been invited to a group interview in SLC with a selection of dates of almost every weekday through Aug 25th. Does anyone know if these are run any differently than the ones off-site? Also, does SkyWest help with transportation there or are you fully responsible for all travel costs? If they do help, is it only on SkyWest, or is ASA included as well; how about mainline Delta or United?

If it's in SLC it should be the FULL interview process, not the group interview. Your interview info should tell you who to contact for travel arrangements. They will book you standby, but I believe if you get bumped on the way to the interview they will not consider that a no-show and will simply re-schedule you for a later interview...takes some stress out of the travel aspect. Yeah I don't think its a groupie. in SLC they are 1 on1. THe groupie ones are usually outside of SLC and are more a meet and greet with an atp test thrown in.

As of Tuesday they are giving interviewees positive space. You need to pay for your lodging. You don't need an RJ type just 1000tt and 100 multi and 100 instrument. (Check the jobs page for specifics on simulated time) Other than that dress and look the part, bring your smile and you should be good to go. I'd also get some sim time, they'll be flexible on your interview but if you screw up the sim your out, RJ type or not. Good luck, we need you.
