FTSI Acquires CAPT
http://www.erau.edu/er/newsmedia/new...2006/capt.html
A warning to all prospective student pilots: Do Not Go Here! FTSI is retaining the incompetent management that failed to deliver their promises to 20% of their customers. Go somewhere else that has over 95% placement rate. Trust me, you do NOT want to take your chances with your time and money with FTSI/CAPT because if you end up on the 20% side of the coin, you are very much screwed. Even their Executive Director has admitted in this press release that "CAPT was a tremendously effective experiment in proving that an individual could go from zero flight time to the right seat of a commercial jetliner with as little as 225 flight hours," said Martin Schaaf, executive director of CAPT. Well, if 80% placement is their definition of "tremendously effective" you need to ask yourself if that's your cup of tea. Going to FTSI/CAPT is like playing Russian Roulette. Don't be the one that gots the bullet. Put down the gun and don't play their game! Be warned! |
you need to move on Ninja, your no longer in the industry so why do you keep checking these message boards?
|
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll stick around for the rest of my life warning people about the CAPT program. Thank you.
|
Ninja,
I too like playing around on FS. I'm now getting into flying helos around Alaskan coastline. A lot of fun and no impact on the pocketbook. There a lot of good coast guard helo's for FS out there. I get my planes at www.simviation.com -LAFF |
"CAPT was a tremendously effective experiment in proving that an individual could go from zero flight time to the right seat of a commercial jetliner with as little as 225 flight hours"
Experiment. Heh. They're still experimenting. And if you sign up with them, you're going to be paying for it. "Of the program's 71 graduates, 57 have been hired as pilots by regional airlines, cargo carriers, and corporate flight departments since it began in August 2003." According to their web site today of current hires, they say they placed 42 people. So are they lying about the 57 as being hired? I noticed that they didn't take credit for the three cadets that paved their own way. So where are these other 15 people? I know they had one or two classes graduate (typically 6 people in a class) and I know for a fact not all of them got placed! The most recent class only had 2 placements with Focus out of 5. Unreal. I find it absolutely funny (and scary if you're looking into this CAPT program) how Careers in Aviation and Flight Training Services International are nowhere to be found on the Internet. What are they hiding here? Or is it just another example of their incompentence at information distribution? "For more information on FTSI and the CAPT program, visit www.captprogram.org." That's great. Except there is no information on FTSI there. Good job showing your incompetence on the Internet boys. |
"you need to move on Ninja"
I don't think so. For years, I've ranted about programs like CAPT which put 250 hour pilots into the airlines. There is nothing like having someone who's been there and done that to tell it like it is. Care to hazard a guess why there aren't any pro-CAPT posters at these boards? I'll tell ya why. Putting 250 hours pilots into the airlines is seen in a pretty negative light by the vast majority of professional pilots. That's why you never hear a word from a CAPT guy, a FSA direct track guy, or MAPDer's, at a place like this. |
Thanks de727ups,
I'm glad someone else have made this observation. I know that there was one or two people from that program that posted one or two short, insignificant account of support for CAPT. However, a majority of them have not and I know they're monitoring this site. Fact is, these people graduated CAPT and don't want to have ANYTHING to do with them. They're just happy they didn't end up like me. I've spoken to some of them and they all agree that they wouldn't sick their worst enemies into that program. Thanks for your support de727ups! |

I find it interesting that with all the ERAU pilots out there very, very few step up and defend their overpriced education with any moxie...Why is that?
The gentleman that CFIs at ALLATPS has single handedly influenced a number of people in this board to consider / research his employer. Its easy to defend the place that takes care of its customers and gives them what the promised for a fixed price. If I worked for ERAU or another aviation school - I'd be in this board everyday talking / educating people about the business....Unless of course the business I'm running is as crooked as Louisiana politics... -LAFF |
This forum will influence many out there to reconsider a ERAU degree or any Aero Science degree.
I has already helped me with my future flight training decisions. -LAFF |

-LAFF Flying ninja, I'll ask again. How much research did you do before you went to CAPT? Were you on the message boards looking? |
"I know some people at Gulfstream(another outfit that uses the 250 hour pilots) and they are doing awsome jobs. Word is that many of them are better than your 1500 CFI"
Funny how Skywest will hire a 1500 hour CFI but not a 500 hour wonder from the Gulfstream program.... |

-LAFF its cuz we dont feel the need to waste our time fighting all the negativity embry riddle is the harvard of the skies and the aero sci degree is the best training u can get as a pilot cuz the instructors make sure u say "checklist complete" its like working for a real airline and its well rounded since u have to take non-calculus physics and a basic economics elective u could also work for NASA or on Wall Street if u wanted. |
"Every Gulfstream person I have known has been a flipping moron"
See, as much as I'd like to say that, I've never actually known one. Are there a lot of Streamer where you work? |
Based on Uncle Bose's comments I don't think we need to add much fuel to the fire.
Then again, many of those that I know who graduated from there don't need to run their mouth. They let their abilities do the talking for them like anybody else who knows what they're doing. Brooding about whatever college you went to usually is the result of a feeling of inadequacy. |

And what kind of person would that be?
He's a very respected poster over at JC and a great asset to the site. Anyone who spent that kind of money and felt he got screwed would be upset. Nothing wrong with being upset and but still trying to get your monies worth out of it. What's your point again? |
Ok, pilotskies, do you have a rational basis (or any basis at all) for your inflammatory statements about Flying Ninja? His posts, like all posts here, reflect his opinions. I'm old enough and ugly enough to figure out for myself whether to believe anything anybody says around here.
