Changing of the guard at OO (speculation)

Russell "Chip[away]" Childs will not last until the end of the year. BOD is not happy with lack of positive revenue from at-risk flying. Source: Undisclosed MGMT type.

I highly doubt the validity of this rumor. He isn't the decision maker on these matters, the decision to pursue the at risk flying came from above. He's just the fall guy, and surely the board can see that.

But if true, and he departs, it could be a sure sign that SkyWest will no longer be a stand alone airline (merger after all?)

I'll send him a nice TFAYD'd card on his way out the door.

ExperimentalAB 08-27-2010 08:23 PM

Maybe they'll jettison Chip and you guys can have Brad back. "Deal Brad an Ace"!

I've had enough of the Brad Holt Override, thanks though.

But the 'stache! Come on! Obey the 'stache!

Slaphappy 08-28-2010 03:49 PM

Brad was great, Most skywest pilots would love to have him back.

I guess I am not one of most of Skywest pilots.

ASA can keep him.

While I don't know if I buy the rumor, I've been wondering about this lately, doesn't seem like anybody is happy with Chipaway

He hasn't been all the impressive. No growth since he's been at the helm. But he was handed a mess.

avi8tor4life 08-28-2010 11:39 PM

And he's taken away tons of stuff that really made SkyWest's pay scales palatable.

BigToe 08-29-2010 04:32 AM

ooops

Entered in error

This is an understatement, the stock has performed worse than most other airlines, whether regional or legacy, and employees are very disgruntled. I honestly can't think of one thing that he has done that was good for stockholders, employees, or company. It's pathetic, the employees love the company but hate what is happening.

After talking to my ASA friends I concluded that it was a win-win.

They were happy to have him (relative to what they had before), and we were happy to get rid him of him (most of us).

[sarcasm] Mhmmm yes that's exactly the sentiment when he ran the show ;-)
beady little eyes, chainsmoking, with his way too big leather jacket. He was a pilots chief pilot who went to the mat for you... [/sarcasm]

In my opinion there were plenty of good guys in the day, Brad: not one of them...

Cheers
George

And now, Viola! A possibly baseless rumor has traction
