Pinnacle Interview

I have a Pinnacle interview at the end of the month. Just looking for advice from people who have recently interviewed with them and I am just looking for how the interview went and what it comprised of.

KiloAlpha 08-14-2006 01:10 PM

Check the gouges. I had an interview on 4 Aug.

Pinnacle has started canceling classes, not so sure it is the best place to be looking for employment... but hey, to each their own.

I haven't been in ground school for a couple of months, but from what I hear the second class for August has been canceled with the possibility of some more being canceled for the rest of the year. I believe people are being hired into a pool right now. Take this for what it's worth-

I can have an interview for the end of the month but I have decided not to go because I cannot find a positive thing about the company. Plus the recent interviews have all been negative. Whats the point of going to an interview with a poorly run company that is just going to throw you into a pool IF you get the job? I guess you can go to get the experience but from what I have heard and seen the interviews have been completely discouraging.

Granted, Pinnacle isn't at the top of many people's list but interview experience is very valuable. You don't want to get that interview with your dream job and then blow it because youre nervous. Airline interviews are like sex: your first time sucks no matter what but you get better and better each time you do it so its a good idea to practice on an ugly girl rather than that gorgeous, busty cheerleader.

Hey there, CTD- I just started at Pinnacle on the 7th. Things may see gloomy right now, but I'd say the company is in pretty okay shape. They did cancel the second Aug. class because there were only 4 people scheduled in it, mgmt said they'll roll that class into a mid to late Sept. class. We're still waiting as to what Big Daddy NWA is deciding to do with those 15 CRJs. But there's also a few other things going on that are keeping the future pretty bright.

I did my interview a few months back, and it seemed pretty straight forward. No games, no gimicks. The staff was very professional and courteous- and they still are. I'd say go to the interview, if anything- just for the experience. It'll help you ease up for future interviews.

Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for replying. Every regional airline has its own problems, I don't think that there is a perfect one out there. I don't plan on staying with the regionals for an extended period of time. If anything it will be a good experience interviewing.

To each his own. The airline that is deemed the "best" is different for each individual and their own personal life style choice and goals. Horizon may be the best regional out there but if you want to live on the east coast and upgrade fast, you would hate life there. Its funny that you say you don't plan on staying with the regionals for an extended period of time. I don't think very many people get on with a regional with the intention of staying there. Especially not now with the way the mainlines are whipsawing the regionals against each other in the famous "race to the bottom". But all it takes is another September 11-type event or a major recession and everyones plans get derailed.

I think hes talking about the massive defections of pilots from Pinnacle. When I interviewed with Pinnacle they said they were losing 30-40 pilots a month due to attrition. That is not normal at an airline the size of Pinnacle. That means one of two things: everyone is leaving Pinnacle for bigger and better things (ie SWA, FDX, UPS, NetJets, etc) or they are seeing the writing on the wall and are tired of the BS and are making lateral moves or getting out of the industry because they cant take it at Pinnacle any more. Who knows, you might get on with Pinnacle and love being based in Snow-town (MSP), No-town(MEM) or Mo-town(DTW), you might love the low pay (hopefully means a lower tax bracket, right?) and you might get a kick out of being junior manned. Like I said, to each his or her own.

I'm not sure what he meant either...But, I've been in organizations where the rats have been jumping...Good - more opportunities for those of us that are willing to step up and take a chance. Right?

What is the worst thing that can happen? You complete 121 training and log jet time. If things work out you are logging 121 PIC time before your peers that waited for the 'good' regional.

I would go to Pinnacle. I've had conversations with one of their Captains and he had nothing but praise for his co-workers. All companies have their issues. Have a game plan , stick to it and move on to bigger / better things...

Good luck.

That's what I figure. Hopefully I hear back from PSA here in the near future too. If I have the chance to pick between the two, that is also if the both offer me a job, I will go with PSA.

Not so many are owned by NWA and possibly facing extinction within a few years, maybe less.

I like PSA as well...I moved the tribe to Charlotte earlier this year - we love the place.

You have a point. Let's hope nothing happens and both NWA / Pinnacle pull thru.
