Just out of curiousity for those of you who got offered two jobs in this market what were your times like? I still got a good ways to go instructing and am wondering whats the times to shoot for these days between min and what will actually get you a call back and hired.

For those wondering, I just got confirmation of the class date with ASA today, and I took it. Absolutely nothing against Eagle. Everyone I dealt with there was extremely professional, but being based at home is just too big a deal. I called Eagle 5 minutes ago to let them know.

Good luck guys!

You fool..

j/k, good luck

It's all about who you know right now...hang in there. A lot of hiring is going to happen this spring. I think we will be in the majors in 4-7 years. Good luck!

Btw...1600/450....haven't flown in 2 years.

Relax...your time will come. I was like that one year and half ago. Just remember do your PIC time (at least 1,000hrs PIC). Don't hurry the process, because you don't want to be stuck in the right seat for life. Just be sure to be at the minimums by 2012 when the boom starts.

Try to find if you can a Part 135 VFR ops...and combine it with the flight instruction. (that's how I did it and I'm just waiting the final call for Eagle) Work hard, stay out of trouble with the FAA, enjoy every experience you can get, stay IFR proficient, even if you're flying VFR if you can shoot an approach do it and you'll see results at the end. I know the hardest part is to find ME students! ;)

This is my humble recommendation.

This are my flight times if you're wondering... 1,300/115, CFI/CFII/MEI/ 135 experience/ NO TRANSPORT CAT or multi crew experience.

2012 boom? Don't waste your money on Kit Darby's propaganda.

Wise choice IMO. Enjoy!

So several months have passed since the original post. I'm curious to see what everyone would say now. Let's renew the question of the orginal poster: Eagle or ASA?

AtlCSIP 03-04-2011 06:49 PM

Both are good. Go where you can live in base or move to a base. If those aren't options, pick the one with the shortest commute.

I got hired at both. I took the ASA job, but I live in Atlanta. I have a friend at Eagle who has been there about 6 months longer than I have been at ASA. His relative seniority appears to be higher, and it looks like Eagle is hiring more than ASA is, so movement could be better there, but either one is good.

Good luck! No commute is priceless!

Just saw an internal email that ASA is planning for 36 additional new hires.
