Checked Airlineapps 2nite and now it says 500/50 for the ASA mins....
|
Phew, Dodged a bullet this morning. I almost had to fly on a Saturday! Can't have that happen. Ohh.....did I just answer my own question about what job would be better for me? :)

bc
I think it would be best to stay put and watch things unfold. The UAL/CAL merger could really put the clamps on any growth at ASA/SKW etc. But like others have said, go to the interview then decide. Good luck! |

Saw this post from an ASA guy on another board in regards to the 500 hrs:
"People thought our mins were increased to 3000 total with 1000 PIC. That's because we were doing some searching with those parameters, and apparently that's what shows up as the mins within the system. We set the default search levels to 500 total the other day to see what/who is in the system, and so now it appears our mins are lower eventhough they're not". |
Stay where you are......
You can get to a legacy carrier from your present position skipping a regional. Why kick yourself in the nuts when you don't have to? I GUARANTEE! if you quit your current job you'll be sitting in the cockpit of an RJ a year from now wishing you would have stayed. |
What he said. In 5 years, legacy carriers will be hiring like they've never hired before in a time when very few new pilots are coming up the pipe. All the hiring paradigms are out the window. The traditional stepping stone approach to going to a regional will be unnecessary. There simply will not be enough pilots willing and able to take those positions. If you have the experience, you will qualify. I'd stay.

I think that Citrus 531 is right here, the 3000 number is probably PIC. CaptTony the numbers coming out of flight schools is way off, in fact AOPA is showing the attrition rate at 78%. I checked with a couple of better flight schools in SEMass, they haven't seen a new certificate in over 90 days, not good.
As far as looking toward the Military, I'm seeing more guys stay in simply because they are paying well, and offers unmatched benefits and stability. |

Guess they are hedging on the idea that the whole 1500hr/ATP rule will be forgotten. Or better yet, waived.
