Mesaba Jumpseats

I am a flight instructor and one of my students works on the ground crew for Mesaba. He told me that Mesaba is no longer allowing him to jumpseat to get to work. I was wondering if this is the same for pilots. Are there any pilots from other airlines that jumpseat on Mesaba? Any Pinnacle pilots?

It is unusual in the airline business for rampers to be allowed to jumpseat. Normally it is only Feds, pilots, company dispatchers, and just maybe company mechanics. If they let him do it for this long after 9/11 I'm surprised.

True. Your student is BSing you. Pilots, FAA, dispatchers, and some mechanics are allowed ( only for tests though).

I think he might be thinking of travel benefits, not the cockpit jumpseat.
