ATPs at Initial & Recurrent?

With the new rule making are airlines issuing ATPs during recurrent for FOs and new hires that meet all the ATP requirements.

I know Comair just got management to agree to this practice during Recurrent and was curious if others were going down this route?

Would that mean an FO will get a PIC type also since the ATP is a PIC checkride?

Doubtful. Granting the PIC type would mean that the candidate (FO) went through the air carriers FAA approved training program to qualify for the PIC type.

Could be wrong, but the process isn't as easy as it sounds. NOT saying it couldn't happen.
