I can confirm that, and the update should at least by out for the MEM 9E guys by tonight. Honestly, that's more than I thought would get done. Sec 25 was huge for QoL, and it had a lot of open items. Getting that one out of the way may actually set the table for getting some other things knocked out. If we can get health insurance and vacation done today or tomorrow, I'd be fairly optimistic. Maybe we'll get to cancel that picketing in JFK on Friday....
So I guess we're starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel? Just hope it isn't the oncoming train....... |
Isn't this the part where we get an announcement from management that we just bought another airline, and now negotiations will have to take a back seat to new coffee mugs filled with kool-aid?

I'm still waiting on a "We Fixed It!" t-shirt to go with the "Paid In Full" ones.... Yeah, there's a glimmer of hope with the big section getting done. I'm still holding off my happy dance for when I read the fine print in those sections. As was mentioned, I hope they close the gigantic loopholes. |
PLEASE find&read "The Most Important Words"
To the Extent Possible
Where these words exist in the contract language they MUST be backed up with "When due to operational needs this portion of the contact must be over-ridden...then the pilot(S) affected by such, SHALL be reimbursed per the following adjustment to pay.... If "to the extent possible" is in the contract or "If due to operational needs"... then there MUST be language that rewards/protects the labor group and "motivates" management to NOT use their "Operational necessity " clause. If this language protecting the labor group is NOT in EVERY applicable section...then the contract is useless / has ZERO POWER. |

I have the utmost confidence in P.H that he will not allow any loose language and d.w loopholes into the jcba that were in ta1. I've known P and the work he's done as C3 chair for several years. He sole mission for over 2 years was to fight the company and d.w interpretations. I dont think he would allow a sub-par contract to be his legacy left behind this place. While i dont think the jcba will be the worlds best regional contract, it will be better than ta1 and vastly improved over our current contract.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!! "Operational needs" should be saved for things like hurricane evacuations, not "we're just too cheap to staff correctly."
"Unfortunately, the company needs to invoke the "operational needs" clause and bypass contractual language due to unforseen snow at JFK in January..." |

I agree, but if/when we see this thing, I'll be reading it looking for those loopholes. Problem with TA1 was I started reading it that way, and I'd barely gotten through one page before I found 2 or 3. I'm actually not looking for the "world's best regional contract." We've seen what's happened to Comair AND ExpressJet in the recent past. I'm looking for something that rewards our pilots for their hard work while protecting our QoL that, at the same time, gives the company the flexibility to be profitable and successful......much as that last part pained me to type.... |
