Way to put words in the guys mouth. I was unaware that talking about the poor was racist, oh that's right, here in America if someone says something that offends you then they are automatically a racist and a bigot. He also never mentioned African Americans in his post, just the poor. Now if when you think of the word poor and you automatically think of African Americans, then maybe you are the one with racist tendencies.

Where did he say anything about Blacks? What don't poor whites peps live in the hood too? It's how he perceived it and he's entitled to his opinion...les not forget we still have freedom of speech...for now
And if you're so concerned with freedom of speech, why are you so concerned about my opinion that he has a racist attitude? |

It had nothing to do with the word "poor". It had to do with the word "hood." See below.
Oh please. Don't even pretend like he was referring to any other group of people. Anyone who's not deluding themselves knows that the word "hood" (when not being used to talk about clothing) is often associated with poor African American communities. And if you're so concerned with freedom of speech, why are you so concerned about my opinion that he has a racist attitude? |

This is basically a Cost of Living Allowance for low income households. I don't really have a problem with this or many other social programs subsidized by the government. My problem here is the oversight, reducing a single parent's tax liability to nothing is fine by me as long as that individual is a responsible, hard-working individual who is striving, in one way or another, to better themselves. If, on the other hand, that same individual prides themselves on being fiscally and socially irresponsible by reaping as much as they can from these state/federal social programs without conscience, then I have a MAJOR issue with that. The whole back-and-forth that has occurred in this thread with regard to wealth or race plays into the hands of the politicians while missing the point. Class warfare has become the biggest distraction exploited by politicians. The government will have you convinced that the problem with our economic woes stems down from a lack of financing through tax payer dollars. I believe the out of control spending is a 10-fold strain on the economy, and that is where fiscal responsibility needs to begin. Not sure how much more juice then can squeeze out of the tax-payer financed lemon, but they sure are trying. I think the Fair Tax Act, would be a step in the right direction. Enhanced fiscal oversight/spending of federal agencies would be the second step. I know that this is a major thread drift, but I felt the need to respond. As far as the fines go, don't worry about it, I'm sure the bean counters lining federal coffers will undoubtedly find some hole to throw the money in. |

Again you are putting words in someones mouth. I never said anything about freedom of speech. And again you are proving to be more of a racist by associating the hood as a place only African Americans live. Trust me, there are hoods out there that have people from all walks of life. Poor doesn't know the difference between black and white, or male and female.
As to your second point, I have no doubt that the reality is there are others besides African Americans living in "the Hood," but traditionally, that term is used in the context of poor African American communities and you know it. Don't be delusional. I am not the one who made the association. Others did decades ago. Get off your high horse you jack wagon. |
