Too few hours?

I have a colleague who works at the same company as me. He's also a Brit married to an American, he has his FAA and green card etc. He got a call this afternoon from our boss telling him that he's being laid off (I escape the cut by just one position on the sli). He's pretty cut up at the moment as I'm sure you can understand. I'm looking to give him some encouragement and was wondering if you guys can help.

He's got 900TT, 650 on J31/32s (multi crew turboprop) plus another 25 or so on multi pistons and about 120 PIC. Do you think he'd have a shot with any of the regional 121 carriers? I know he meets the minimums for Eagle, but was wondering if they'd actually interview someone with minimum hours.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully we can give him something to smile about.

As one of my good friends would say... They can't tell you "yes" if you don't apply!! Tell him to get his app out there and keep his chin up :)

Who are you with, is it CFM?

Eagle is hiring with 800 total time and 100 Multi engine. The low PIC time might be the only obstacle, they prefer 250PIC, but give it a shot!

Thanks guys. I'll pass on the good news and encouragement. I was telling him he needs to take a leaf out of Charlie Sheen's book and start winning with his tiger blood!

Piedmonster, I'm not with CFM. I'm down in the Caribbean with a foreign 121 carrier.

Sounds like a great gig with a close pilot group. I can't think of a single pilot amongst our 2500+ pilots that would stick their head out for me or anyone else for that matter. Kudos to you for being a good friend.

I applied to Eagle about a month ago with 805/200 just above the TT minimums and I got the the email about a week later for an interview(with an internal rec and 141 school letter of rec, others it generally takes about 2-3 weeks depending on how backed up they are).

Like others said it doesn't hurt to try, also Eagle is down to a 3 month reapply time if for some odd reason the paperwork got screwed up or you just had a bad day.

I strongly suggest that they review the required items i.e. Current first class medical (only bold because some are going in with a medical more than 12 mo old and that is a quick way to be sent out or not get an interview), FCC permit...

Airlineapps.com can be pain so better get started on it right away

Also, got the pre-offer at 840/200 so he definately has a shot
