ASA Bird Strike

This look like a ERJ to anyone else?

Commuter plane strikes flock of birds, makes emergency landing - CNN.com

clearprop 04-01-2011 03:58 PM

Hard for this earthbound misfit to tell. Just glad no one was injured. Kudos to the crew.

ExperimentalAB 04-01-2011 03:58 PM

CRJ, actually...doesn't look pleasant.

rickair7777 04-01-2011 04:05 PM

Yeah it's a CRJ. ASA doesn't have any Embrears.

shfo 04-01-2011 04:06 PM

You can tell it's a 200 by the nose gear doors.

JetPipeOverht 04-01-2011 10:09 PM

Easy chief.... Holy over reaction. And no, they do not. SkyWest Inc does.

Dougdrvr 04-02-2011 05:48 AM

Tearing up the fiberglass radome is one thing but that dent in the left engine inlet cowling (the anti-iced part) is something else. That's usually made out of tough stuff. :)

tsquare 04-02-2011 05:50 AM

de leted.

This crew did a fantastic job.

Surely this is an inside joke between Rickair and Jetpipe.....please tell me I'm reading this wrong and it's not an almighty ASA peeing contest because Rickair is one of the few on here that posts with maturity and factual knowledge based on experience 99.99% of the time without any flaming or "i'm better than you"

FLowpayFO 04-02-2011 11:26 AM

Talk about a good bar story! Kudos to the crew!

20kDoLlOrPilot 04-02-2011 12:32 PM

They were terrorist birds!

JetPipeOverht 04-02-2011 05:13 PM

Totally a joke, I respect Rickair

captain152 04-02-2011 05:27 PM

That's one of the worst bird strikes I've ever seen!!

Great job to the crew for getting the plane and everyone on board down safely :)

How about the crews' face when it hit?

acl65pilot 04-04-2011 11:55 AM

This one is bad, but not as bad as the one that happened in XNA about seven years ago. That flock of Geese took out all of the inverters. (They sit right below the windscreen) I wish I had a pic handy of that one......

If they left the radar on, you don't need to grill it, it would be microwaved..
